Madelyn Cline Subtly Reacts to Chase Stokes, Kelsea Ballerini Breakup

Just a couple of weeks after Chase Stokes and Kelsea Ballerini announced they were breaking up again, Madelyn Cline – who previously dated Chase from 2020 to 2021 – appeared to hint at her thoughts on the split.

I’ve been following Kelsea Ballerini’s journey, and after her split with Chase, it was really interesting to see her connect with Ashley Cooke’s new song, “Xs.” It’s a song about a partner who’s not being honest and has a tendency to look elsewhere – and Kelsea totally seemed to get that, given what she’s been through!

In a clip posted to Instagram on February 9th, Ashley sang, “Don’t even try to deny it, I know you were the one who did it. It doesn’t matter how you try to explain it away.” She continued, “You want me to come back after that? No way! Don’t you realize that when you cross boundaries, it creates problems?”

Kelsea simply responded with “Mmmhhhmmm” in the comments, and Ashley replied, “You get it.”

Madelyn appeared to support the women by liking a social media post that described what happened between them.

This isn’t the first time Madelyn has shown her support for Kelsea. Shortly after Kelsea walked the 2026 Grammys red carpet alone, Madelyn posted a sweet selfie of them laughing together, foreheads touching.

Madelyn said it was really difficult to end her relationship with Chase, especially because fans had begun to associate their real-life romance with the love story of the characters they played.

It’s common for people to get very involved when a public couple breaks up,” she explained on the Therapuss podcast in March. “Plus, we still share a significant connection – something that’s a major part of both our lives. That made separating incredibly difficult.

She added, “But also, like any breakup, you grow out of it, which is great.”

Madelyn also shared that she and Chase always made a point of protecting their working relationship while filming Outer Banks.

From the beginning, our goal has always been to improve the show with each season,” she shared with People magazine in February 2023. “Everyone involved still feels like a family – Outer Banks has always been that way. I’m just glad we’ve been able to maintain a professional working relationship.

Matt LeBlanc playfully disagreed, joking, “That’s ridiculous! I’m kidding,” but then admitted his co-stars might have displayed some affection on set.

“Honestly, I remember saying one time to David, ‘It’s going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television,'” Aniston confessed. “And sure enough, the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop.”

As a huge fan, I always suspected something special between Jennifer and David! Apparently, during those early days of filming Friends, whenever they had a break from rehearsals, they’d often just cuddle up together on the couch. Jennifer even admitted they’d sometimes spoon and fall asleep! It’s so sweet to hear how comfortable and close they were, even back then.

Schwimmer finally confessed he wondered why it wasn’t obvious to everyone that he and Jennifer Aniston had crushes on each other.

In 2010, stars of The Big Bang Theory surprised fans by confirming they had been dating for two years. Kaley Cuoco only shared details about their relationship after they broke up.

Kaley Cuoco shared in an interview with CBS Watch! magazine that her relationship with Johnny Galecki was a significant part of her life, yet they kept it completely private. She described it as a lovely connection, but they intentionally avoided discussing it with anyone and never appeared together in public.

What you saw on Saved By the Bell with the characters’ relationships was just the tip of the iceberg. The real romantic drama happened off-camera.

Looking back, everyone on the show dated each other – it was a very close-knit group! Mark-Paul Gosselaar told People magazine in 2009 that the girls sometimes ganged up on the guys, with Tiffani and Elizabeth both being upset with him, and then getting mad at Lark for even speaking to him. Mario would always get caught in the middle, just like typical high school drama – everyone questioning who you talked to and who you were friends with.

During the later seasons of Saved by the Bell, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen had the longest-lasting relationship of any of the show’s real-life couples, dating for three years.

According to Ed Alonzo, who played Max on the show, actors Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen, famously known as Zack and Kelly, definitely had a connection while filming the ’90s TV series. He shared this with Entertainment Tonight.

“It was very cute,” Alonzo shared. “It was hand-holding and looking over.”

I was so excited to read Thiessen talk about her first time trying alcohol in her interview with People! She shared that it happened with Mark-Paul Gosselaar when they were in Paris for a press tour. They were enjoying crepes, and she said that first sip with him felt like something out of a fairytale – like Barbie and Ken, or even Zack and Kelly! It was just a really sweet and memorable moment for her, and I loved hearing about it.

Zack Morris, from Saved By the Bell, revealed in a 2019 interview on Anna Faris’s Unqualified podcast that he had dated all three of the show’s main female characters, including a brief romance with Tiffani Thiessen’s character, Kelly Kapowski.

Let me tell you, working on location, especially when you’re starting out, is a unique experience. It’s like being in its own little world. You really live and breathe the project, and honestly, there’s not much outside influence. We were all just focused on the work, completely immersed in this bubble we created together.

Though Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley’s characters were a popular couple on Saved By the Bell, Lopez shared in his memoir, Just Between Us, that he actually dated Tiffani Thiessen.

He described how they started dating – going to the movies, eating out, and going to parties where they danced. Eventually, they became a couple. However, Lopez later confessed to being unfaithful, explaining that while he believed staying loyal to Tiffani was the right thing to do, he wasn’t mature enough at the time to actually do it.

In her 2013 memoir, actress Melissa Joan Hart shared a story about a gift from her co-star, Seth Green. He gave her a watch on the last day they filmed together, and afterward, they ended up kissing back at her hotel.

She recalled being struck by his attractive lips, and how his large hands and broad shoulders made her feel small. She admitted it was a welcome distraction, though, from the strong scent of his hair products.

Kelly Clarkson revealed that she did date a fellow original American Idol finalist, confirming long-standing rumors. However, she clarified that their relationship began after the competition had ended.

Everyone assumed we were dating during American Idol, but we weren’t actually together then,” she said on Watch What Happens Live in 2015. She then shared that they did briefly date while filming their 2003 movie, From Justin to Kelly.

She explained that she believes anyone spending that much time with another person would likely end up dating. She jokingly referenced a song from the movie From Justin to Kelly, saying, “You can’t deny the connection!”

While filming Hannah Montana: The Movie in 2009, Cyrus quietly dated her on-screen love interest.
