Hangar 13 is keeping things straightforward in their marketing for Mafia: The Old Country, which will be released next month on PS5. This gangster title harks back to the old school style of gameplay, with few distractions to detract from the core experience. Like an early Uncharted game, its combat seems relatively easy to grasp, and you can get a sneak peek at it in the trailer above, showcasing footage captured from a PS5 Pro console.
In combat situations, there’s a cover system in place, similar to classic action games, and knife fights incorporate quick-time events for added intensity. The choice to create a strictly linear gameplay experience, as opposed to replicating the open world from previous Mafia series, underpins this design approach.

The design of this game seems to take cues from the final battle between Nathan Drake and Rafe in Uncharted 4, where they engage in a sword fight. In this new game, players will have an opportunity to employ different sword techniques just like Nathan did during his duel with the main antagonist.
