Majogami coming to PS5 on May 28 alongside ‘Trials’ update

I’m so excited! Inti Creates just announced that Majogami, their awesome 2D action platformer, is coming to PlayStation 5 on May 28th. And get this – they’re launching it with a free update that adds even more tough Trials to test my skills! Can’t wait to jump in.

Majogami was initially released for both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Switch on October 30, 2025. It then became available on PC through Steam on November 6, 2025.

So, good news for my fellow gamers in Japan – the PS5 version will have physical copies, both the regular one and a limited edition! This limited edition is seriously cool – it comes with a special box featuring artwork by Yuji Natsume, an art book, and a two-disc soundtrack CD. Apparently, they did a similar limited edition for the Switch 2 and the original Switch, so if you missed out then, now’s your chance!

Coming to PlayStation 5

In Majogami, you play as Shiroha, a young witch who’s stuck in a scary world made of paper. You’ll need to quickly slash through enemies and even the world around you to find your way back home to your father.

The PlayStation 5 version now includes 12 new challenges for even more playtime! These challenges feature a new hazard – unavoidable fire damage – which will really push your skills to the limit. You can upload your top scores to the leaderboards and compete against players worldwide to prove you’re the best!

What are Trials?

Once you finish the main story, you’ll be able to unlock Trial missions. These missions have unique rules and become available after you meet certain requirements.

The 12 new trials are planned to be added to other available platforms in a free update.

About the Game

Majogami is a fast-paced 2D action game created by Yuji Natsume, known for his work on the Blaster Master Zero series. As Shiroha, players wield a katana called “Kamikiri” to battle terrifying creatures in a strange world made of paper.

Throughout her adventure, Shiroha gathers cards holding her memories, known as Recarte. She’ll also battle the Majogami – powerful, godlike witches who control the world using their unique crafts.

Shiroha is trying to escape the dangerous realm of the Majogami, creatures with dark intentions and strong magical abilities. To survive, she’ll use her quick sword skill, called “Setsuna,” to defeat enemies swiftly. She can also count on protective symbols created by Shiori, and the help of powerful beings called Astrals, who allow her to change into different forms with new combat abilities.
