Major Anime Studio Teases Announcement of The Hottest Shonen Jump Series

AnimeJapan, a major annual anime convention held each March since 2014, has announced its schedule for 2026. The event, considered a highlight of the year for anime fans, will take place on March 28th and 29th at Tokyo Big Sight. This year’s convention will feature over 120 exhibitors, including industry leaders like Aniplex, KADOKAWA, TOHO animation, and Bandai Namco Filmworks, as well as studios like CyberAgent. A complete list of participating exhibitors is available on the official AnimeJapan website.

Founded in 1998, this anime studio has become popular for shows like the hit idol drama Oshi no Ko, the 2025 horror film The Summer Hikaru Died, and the sci-fi series Apocalypse Hotel. Recently, rumors have been spreading that they’re planning to adapt the popular manga Kagurabachi. With the studio participating in AnimeJapan 2026, they shared an update on their social media, which quickly gained attention from Kagurabachi fans. This post has increased excitement for a potential announcement at the event, and fans are eagerly awaiting official confirmation.

Kagurabachi ‘s Anime Rumors Have Been Circulating Since 2024

Takeru Hokazono’s first manga, Kagurabachi, quickly became popular after it started appearing in September 2023. Since early 2024, there have been rumors – both official and unofficial – about a possible anime adaptation. In July 2024, a report surfaced that Shueisha had applied to trademark Kagurabachi for various types of merchandise, including animation-related products. Because trademarks are essential for securing the rights to create an anime, fans took this as a strong indication that an adaptation might be happening.

In December 2024, Toyo Keizai reported that CygamesPictures (a collaboration between Cyberagent and Shochiku Production) would be producing an anime series. Around the same time, Netflix Japan’s official X account generated buzz with a trailer titled “With Friends, Jump Anime, and Netflix,” which hinted at upcoming anime adaptations of Kagurabachi and Akane-banashi. The trailer included quick shots of already-adapted anime like One Piece, Sakamoto Days, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Blue Box. Although the trailer focused on anime, it surprisingly showed manga panels from Kagurabachi and Akane-banashi, leading to speculation that Netflix was also acquiring the anime rights for these series, similar to what they did with Sakamoto Days. As anticipated, Akane-banashi confirmed its anime adaptation for August 2025, and an announcement for Kagurabachi is likely to follow soon. Given the immense popularity of Kagurabachi, an anime adaptation was inevitable, and fans may not have to wait much longer.
