I’ve been watching a lot of great anime come out of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump already this year, and it looks like things are really heating up! We’ve had some big releases in the first few months, but the best is yet to come. One series in particular, a major franchise everyone’s been waiting for, is officially returning with its second season this April. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic year for anime, with Shonen Jump promising even more new and returning shows throughout the year.
The Spring 2026 anime season is almost here, and fans are eagerly awaiting the return of popular series like Mission: Yozakura Family. To build excitement for the premiere, it’s been announced that Mission: Yozakura Family Season 2 will debut in Japan on April 12th. Along with this news, a new trailer and poster have been released, giving fans a first look at what’s to come.
Mission: Yozakura Family Season 2 Confirms Release Date
Season 2 of Mission: Yozakura Family will begin airing in Japan on April 12th as part of the Spring 2026 anime lineup. Details about when it will be available outside of Japan haven’t been released yet. You can currently watch the first season on Hulu, and the second season may also be streamed there. The new opening song, “What’s ‘Family’,” is by Sakurazaka46, while Pilaf Alien will perform the ending theme, “Shalala.”
Season 2 of Mission: Yozakura Family will be directed by Takahiro Nakatsugawa at Silver Link. Mirai Minato is writing the scripts, Mizuki Takahashi is designing the characters, and Koji Fujimoto is composing the music. The voice actors from the first season are returning, and the new season will reveal more about the Yozakura family and their history. Fans will have to watch to see how the story unfolds.
What’s Next for Mission: Yozakura Family?

The manga for Mission: Yozakura Family finished its run in Weekly Shonen Jump last year, leaving the anime with a lot of source material to work with. While the number of episodes for the upcoming Spring season hasn’t been announced, the manga contains many significant story arcs and fights. If the anime continues beyond this season, it has plenty of content still to adapt before reaching the manga’s conclusion.
This series was a hidden gem that didn’t get much attention when it was originally released in Shonen Jump, but the new anime adaptation should introduce it to a wider audience and let people discover how enjoyable it is. However, with so many popular shows returning this spring, it will be hard for it to stand out amidst all the competition for viewers’ time.
