It’s no secret that many well-known actors and musicians enjoy anime – stars like John Boyega, Michael B. Jordan, and Megan Thee Stallion have all talked about their love for it. Anime fans are also common online, with several YouTubers regularly creating content about the medium. One popular creator, with over 17 million subscribers, recently took his passion a step further by joining the cast of Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai and sharing his excitement about the role.
Penguinz0, also known as MoistCr1TiKal, recently revealed he voiced a character in the English dub of the anime Baki The Grappler. He’d been wanting to be involved in an anime project for a while and was excited to work on something he enjoyed. Although he jokingly admitted he didn’t think his performance was great, he played the highly anticipated role of ‘Generic Police Officer.’ You can see the announcement in the video linked here.

Charlie explained his difficulties with his voice work for the police character. He had to perfectly synchronize his lip movements with the existing animation and match the original voice actor’s tone, which was challenging since it was new to him. He felt he focused too much on technical accuracy, resulting in a performance that sounded unnatural. As for a second season of Baki-Dou on Netflix, it hasn’t been confirmed, but fans are hoping Charlie gets another chance to reprise his role.
Penguinz0, also known as Charlie, has a surprisingly extensive background in voice acting, with his recent work on Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai being just one example. He previously voiced the character Soul in Team Four Star’s popular Hellsing Ultimate Abridged series. However, he’s arguably best known for his video game role as Sonar, a bat-themed hero who fights crime in the game Dispatch. More recently, Charlie lent his voice to Mewgenics, playing one of the many feline characters players use to battle monsters. Between his successful YouTube videos, a comic book series called Godslap, and his voice acting work, Charlie is making a significant impact across various areas of pop culture.
