Maleficent star joins Ben Coyle-Larner in exclusive first look at BBC’s new romantic crime drama Mint – as release date confirmed

This month, the BBC will debut its new romantic crime drama, Mint, featuring Ben Coyle-Larner and Sam Riley. TopMob is offering an exclusive sneak peek!

The new show, created by writer Charlotte Regan (known for ‘Scrapper’), is a romantic story exploring both the highs and lows of love, especially when facing external disapproval. It will premiere on BBC One at 9pm on Monday, April 20th.

All episodes will also be available to stream on iPlayer from 6am that day.

The story centers on Mint, played by Emma Laird, whose family runs a powerful criminal organization. She becomes involved with Arran (Ben Coyle-Larner, also known as the musician Loyle Carner), a newcomer to town and member of a competing family.

As Shannon and Arran pursue their secret relationship, Shannon’s family is facing a crisis.

Early in the show, Dylan unexpectedly resigns as the family leader, and his second-in-command, Sam, takes over. However, Sam’s different approach to things soon starts to cause concern.

After Dylan’s choice, the story shifts away from crime and power struggles to focus on the personal lives of Shannon’s family: her parents, Dylan and Cat, her brother Luke, and their strong-willed grandmother, Ollie.

The cast of Mint includes Sam Riley, known for his role as Maleficent, alongside Laura Fraser (from Breaking Bad), Lewis Gribben (of Somewhere Boy), Connor Newall (appearing in 28 Years Later), and Lindsay Duncan (from Sherwood).

The show was filmed in and around Glasgow last year.

You can watch the new series, Mint, on BBC One starting Monday, April 20th at 9pm. All episodes will also be available on BBC iPlayer from 6am that same day.
