DC fans who are really hoping to see Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow may be in for disappointment.
Next year, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures will release a new Superman movie in U.S. theaters. James Gunn wrote and directed the film, which continues the story begun in 2025’s Superman. David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will return as Superman/Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, respectively.
What is the casting update on Man of Tomorrow?
Someone asked James Gunn on Threads if all the roles for his upcoming movie, ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ had been cast. Gunn replied that they only have one role left to fill before the casting process is complete.
James Gunn stated that he has already cast all of the main roles for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ when questioned about when the announcements would be made.
The main cast for Man of Tomorrow appears to be complete, with Lars Eidinger playing Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart joining the film.
According to some online reports, Maxima is the last character yet to be cast in the upcoming film, Man of Tomorrow. Deadline originally claimed Adria Arjona, Ella Purnell, and Marisa Abela had auditioned for the part, but James Gunn publicly corrected them, calling the report “shoddy & incorrect,” and the article was subsequently updated.
A recent article in Deadline reports that only actress Isabela Merced (Arjona) has tested for the role of Maxima. However, director James Gunn isn’t confirming or denying if the character will appear in the movie, stating he’s “absolutely not confirming” her involvement at this time.
It appears the main cast for the upcoming Superman film is nearly complete, with only one or two roles left to fill. While some fans are hoping Wonder Woman will make an appearance, it’s probably unlikely they’d wait until now to cast her, considering how important she’ll be to the future of the DC Universe.
Man of Tomorrow arrives on July 9, 2026.
