Man of Tomorrow and Peacemaker Season 2 may not be as connected as some fans think.
The first season of Peacemaker, a show from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television, recently ended with its finale on HBO Max. John Cena returns as Christopher Smith, and the series also stars Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Steve Agee as John Economos.
James Gunn is planning a sequel to his Superman film, currently called ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ expected in theaters in 2027. David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will return as Superman and Lex Luthor, respectively. While not yet confirmed, many believe Brainiac will be the movie’s main villain.
What did James Gunn say about Man of Tomorrow?
After James Gunn announced the new Superman movie, he described the second season of Peacemaker as a “prequel” to it. Because Peacemaker Season 2 hinted at future storylines with groups like Salvation and Checkmate, many fans expected those ideas to appear in the Superman film.
In a conversation with Go Read Some Comics, James Gunn explained that the upcoming Man of Tomorrow movie will connect to the events of Peacemaker Season 2’s finale, but won’t necessarily resolve everything that happened there. He emphasized that the movie will also stand on its own as a separate story.
James Gunn explained that while ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is closely linked to the ‘Peacemaker’ series, it will also tell a completely separate and unique story.
Man of Tomorrow will be released on July 9, 2027, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
