Mandy Moore Details “Sadness” of Knowing She’s “Done Having Babies”

Mandy Mooreis expressing her feelings about saying goodbye to a chapter of her motherhood journey.

Actress Mandy Moore has shared that she probably won’t have any more children after welcoming three kids – Gus, 4, Ozzie, 3, and Louise, 16 months – with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith. She’s been opening up about how she’s felt processing this realization.

Mandy shared on Instagram on January 5th that she was at a routine check-up with her gynecologist. She expressed gratitude for her family, but also admitted feeling a little sad knowing she’s finished having children and won’t experience pregnancy again.

The 41-year-old also asked her followers if there were “any other moms feel this way?”

Last year, Mandy expressed her joy about celebrating her first Mother’s Day with her three children.

She shared on Instagram in May that becoming a mother is the best thing that’s ever happened to her. While motherhood involves constant worry and planning, the deep happiness it brings outweighs everything else.

The actress, known for her role in Tangled, also expressed gratitude to the mothers in her life, saying they show her how to cope, offer support, give great advice, and help her feel less isolated as she navigates life.

I’ve been following Mandy’s story, and it’s been so inspiring to hear about her experience becoming a mom to Louise a bit later in life. She’s been really open about what it’s been like, and it’s truly resonated with me.

She recently discussed her decision to have a third child at age 40, and how the term ‘geriatric pregnancy’ feels off-putting. Speaking on Kylie Kelce’s ‘Not Gonna Lie’ podcast in June, she explained that many people are now having children later in life, whether intentionally, due to circumstances, or because of biological factors.

Mandy explained that the biggest challenge was being seen as an exception by the system simply because of their age. She felt they were unfairly labeled as too complicated or risky, when really, they were just like everyone else.

Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith have two sons: August, born in February 2021, and Oscar, who arrived in October 2022.

For Father’s Day 2023, Mandy told her husband how happy she was to be raising their child with him. She said they were a very lucky family of three and wished him a happy Father’s Day, telling him she loved him very much.

You know, watching Taylor become a dad has been incredible. Even before we tied the knot, he was already writing songs about the joys of coaching Little League – a sweet sign he’d be great with kids! But honestly, nothing could have prepared me for just how natural and amazing he would be once we actually became parents. It’s truly been wonderful to witness.

I’m constantly amazed by everything you do – your patience, kindness, and how you always jump in to help, whether it’s changing diapers, soothing a crying baby, or keeping up with our energetic toddler, all without me even needing to ask. You’re amazing at getting Gus to eat, always making Ozzie laugh, and your taste in music for the boys is fantastic… I could list so many more things!

Mandy shared on Instagram in February 2023 that they celebrated Goosey’s birthday early with loved ones. She wrote that two years with Gus Goldsmith, whom she describes as sweet and funny, have passed quickly, and they feel very lucky to have him in their lives.

In April 2020, Mandy revealed on Instagram that after spending more than six weeks in quarantine with someone, they were still happily getting along.

“Me and my love,” Mandy shared on Instagram when teasing another duet performance.

Whether performing music together or cuddling on the couch, these two make one cute couple.

The Dawes musician and the actress/singer collaborated on a song for This Is Us.

In November 2018, composer Chris Goldsmith shared a photo on Instagram with Mandy Moore and Sidd Khosla from the day they recorded “Invisible Ink” for an episode of This Is Us. He expressed how honored he was that Sidd asked him to co-write the song and then to record it with someone he considers a close friend. You can listen to “Invisible Ink” on Spotify or Apple Music.

I was so excited to see them at the Communities in Schools Celebration in Los Angeles back in May 2018! They always look adorable together, and it was wonderful to see them supporting such a great cause.

Oh my gosh, remember that picture? It was from September 2018, and it was just… everything! She posted it on Instagram, and it was of her and Dawes, looking totally exhausted because the hotel fire alarm went off at MIDNIGHT! But it was also the sweetest thing ever, because they’d been apart for almost a month! She said it was SO worth the trip just to see Dawes play, and honestly, she was right! She even tagged them and said Portland was in for a treat that night! I was SO jealous, and I’ve been following Dawes ever since, all because of that post!

The two attend the 2017 Emmy Awards.

Moore shared on Instagram a throwback to Emmy Sunday, recalling how someone traveled across the country that very morning just to spend the day with her.

Mandy posted this picture to celebrate her and T’s second anniversary in July 2017, writing, ‘These have been the best two years. I’m always smiling when I’m with you, T.’

I was so thrilled to see one of my favorite musicians and his band absolutely kill it at their hometown concert last night! I shared my excitement on Instagram back in January 2016 – it was a truly electric performance.

The actress from This Is Us confidently wears heels, even if it makes her taller than her partner – a truly inspiring couple!

The couple enjoyed a mini-vacay in San Francisco to see an iconic landmark.

Like Ed Sheeran’s lyrics suggest, someone special can feel close, as if they’re always with you – maybe tucked away like a keepsake in your jeans, or cherished like a bookmark in a beloved book, as Taylor Swift describes.
