Mandy Moore Shares the “Tricky” Part About Her Acting Career

Sometimes managing responsibilities can become a tangled situation.

For Mandy Moore-who shares three young children, sons Gus, 4, and Ozzie, 2, and daughter Lou, who is 12 months old, with her husband Taylor Goldsmith-adjusting to motherhood while also maintaining a successful acting career has been a challenge. She’s still learning how to find the right balance.

She explained that finding work-life balance is challenging, especially now that she’s a mother of three, telling TopMob News’ Francesca Amiker at Step Up’s 2025 Inspiration Awards on Sept. 26 in Los Angeles, “You really have to be flexible and change what you expect as life changes and your children grow.”

However, it’s ultimately rewarding. As Mandy explained, “I’m incredibly grateful to still be doing what I’m passionate about, even after 25 years.”

Having spent over two decades working in the industry, the Tangled star has learned a few valuable lessons for those who are still figuring things out.

“We’re all facing similar challenges,” she stated. “Nobody has all the answers, and anyone who claims they do isn’t being truthful. So be kind to yourself. It seems like everyone-absolutely everyone-has moments where they feel stressed, defeated, and lost, but remember to just focus on making small, incremental progress, one step at a time.”

Plus, it’s always best to lead with your heart.

Kindness is essential,” Mandy shared. “I think ultimately, that’s what you want to be remembered for. While there are many people who are successful, attractive, or gifted, I believe kindness is what truly lasts.”

For Mandy, a major factor in her continued success-both in her personal life and career-is her ability to juggle everything while having the support of her husband, whom she’s been with for seven years. Actually, this summer, on Taylor’s birthday, the This Is Us alum excitedly shared about the ten years they’ve spent together.

“It’s difficult to fully express everything you contribute, Taylor,” she shared in her post on August 16th. “You’re loved by everyone (and definitely by all 3 of our children, of course).”

Mandy went on, “You are the most generous, creative, patient, handsome, fearless, intuitive, steadfast, and humorous person I know… and that’s just the beginning! I truly appreciate you and feel thankful for our life together every day.”

Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith became parents to their son, August “Gus” Harrison, in February 2021. They later welcomed another son, Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett Goldsmith, in October 2022.

“I’m so happy we get to experience parenthood together,” Mandy wrote to her husband for Father’s Day 2023. “The three of us are incredibly lucky to have you, T. I love you very much and Happy Father’s Day!!!

In an Instagram post honoring Taylor, Mandy wrote, “You were composing songs about coaching Little League even before we tied the knot, so I had a feeling you’d be great as a Dad. But I honestly didn’t realize just how amazing and effortless it would come to you until we actually became parents.”

I’m constantly amazed by everything you do – your patience, your kind heart, and how you always jump in to help, whether it’s changing a diaper or comforting a crying baby, even without me asking. And you’re always ready to play and get messy with our energetic toddler! The actress continued in her message, adding, “Your talent for getting Gus to eat things he wouldn’t touch for me, or making Ozzie burst out laughing, and your amazing music choices for the boys… I could list things forever!”

Mandy shared on Instagram in February 2023 that they celebrated Goosey’s birthday early with loved ones. She wrote that two years with her “sweetest, goofiest guy” had passed quickly. Mandy expressed how fortunate they are to have Gus Goldsmith in their lives.

Mandy revealed on Instagram in April 2020 that after being quarantined with someone for more than six weeks, they still enjoyed each other’s company.

“Me and my love,” Mandy shared on Instagram when teasing another duet performance.

Whether performing music together or cuddling on the couch, these two make one cute couple.

The Dawes musician and the actress/singer collaborated on a song for This Is Us.

@mandymooremm, @siddkhoslamusic, and I took this photo the day we recorded “Invisible Ink,” which was featured on last night’s episode of @nbcthisisus,” Goldsmith shared on Instagram back in November 2018. She expressed how honored she was that Sidd asked her to co-write the song and then to be able to record it with someone she considers a favorite. She encouraged fans to listen to it on Spotify or Apple Music.

The adorable couple attended the yearly Communities in Schools Celebration in Los Angeles in May 2018.

I remember when Moore shared this on Instagram back in September 2018 – it really captured the moment! He described this photo as showing how we looked after being woken up by the hotel fire alarm at midnight. But it was also a picture of pure happiness – we were so grateful to finally have 24 hours together after being apart for almost a month. And of course, it’s always worth the trip to see @dawestheband play a gig! Seriously, if you’re in Portland tonight, you’re in for a treat! #portland

Mandy posted this picture to celebrate her and T’s two-year anniversary in July 2017, writing: “The best 2 years. Never not smiling with you, T.”

In January 2016, Moore shared on Instagram how proud they were of this musician and the entire band for delivering a truly energetic performance in their hometown last night.

As a lifestyle expert, I always say embrace what makes you feel good! And that definitely includes shoes. I love that the This Is Us star isn’t afraid to wear heels and even be a little taller than her partner. It’s all about confidence and owning your style – now *that’s* what I call #couplegoals!

The couple enjoyed a mini-vacay in San Francisco to see an iconic landmark.

Like Ed Sheeran sings, “You can keep me inside the pocket of your ripped jeans.” Or, as Taylor suggests, use me as a bookmark in your favorite book.
