The city-building strategy game Manor Lords was a big success when it launched last year. Its publisher, Hooded Horse, is known for releasing quality strategy games, ranging from dynasty simulators like Old World to survival games like Clanfolk. Now, Hooded Horse is teaming up with 9 Eyes Studio to create a new strategy RPG that’s inspired by classics like Final Fantasy Tactics.
Hooded Horse recently revealed a new trailer for their upcoming game, Pathbreakers: Roaming Blades. Developed by 6 Eyes Studio – the creators of the well-received 2019 RPG Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark – Pathbreakers: Roaming Blades is already looking very promising, thanks to both the development team and the impressive trailer.
Pathbreakers: Roaming Blades Announcement Trailer Shows Off Pixel Art Fantasy RPG Vibes
It’s usually tough to gauge how much actual gameplay is shown in announcement trailers. However, the new trailer for Pathbreakers: Roaming Blades gives us a pretty good look at what to expect from this upcoming open-world RPG. The developers at 9 Eyes Studios have been working on the game and sharing updates for a while, even before announcing their partnership with Hooded Horse, so there’s already a lot of information available on the Steam page. And so far, it looks promising! You can watch the Pathbreakers: Roaming Blades announcement trailer below to see for yourself.
The upcoming game from 9 Eyes Studio and Hooded Horse immerses players in a medieval fantasy world. As mercenaries, you’ll explore a vast, ever-changing landscape and battle using a turn-based combat system. You can choose a pre-made backstory for your character or create your own, then assemble and train a crew to navigate this dangerous world. A class system allows you to build a well-rounded team, but remember to manage your resources carefully – keeping your mercenaries equipped and fed is crucial for success on your adventures.
As a fan, I’m really excited about the gameplay! It’s got that classic feel of exploring dungeons and towns, and apparently there are tons of hidden secrets to find. The battles are turn-based, like the old days, where you position your units on a grid. You’ll really need to think strategically to keep yourself and your crew alive! What’s got me hooked is that the game has a procedurally generated world and different character backgrounds, so every time you play it will feel fresh. Plus, the story isn’t just one set path – things happen dynamically, and your choices actually matter, so Pathbreakers should stay interesting for a long, long time.

The first trailer for this new game has generated a lot of excitement among fans. Hooded Horse has a strong reputation, and many players are drawn to the game’s similarities to Final Fantasy Tactics. It’s a fantasy RPG with a touch of JRPG style, and the pixel art graphics are reminiscent of popular Square Enix games like Octopath Traveler.
You can now add Pathbreakers: Roaming Blades to your wishlist on Steam! While there’s no official release date yet, it’s marked as “coming soon.” Currently, the game is confirmed to be releasing on PC only.
