PlayStation’s State of Play presentation is happening later today, and fans are excited about the promised hour-plus of new game reveals and announcements. With PlayStation Studios already involved, many expected to see something from Bungie’s upcoming game, Marathon. Now, the game’s official Discord server has confirmed it will indeed be featured.
Plus, we’ll be livestreaming the gameplay at 3 PM Pacific Time with the game director, Joe Ziegler, and a few special guests. However, don’t expect a sneak peek or preview this weekend – it’s not planned at the moment.
Bungie has said there won’t be any news this weekend, but a State of Play announcement revealing a beta test later this month is still possible. This would align with Bungie’s practice of giving players advance notice to help them prepare.
The game Marathon will be released on March 5th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Its development wasn’t easy, and included a situation where assets were taken from an artist, which was eventually resolved. The game costs $40 and will launch with six playable characters. A preview event in China revealed that future seasons will offer long, roguelike-style adventures, according to developer Ziegler.
We might get a look at upcoming seasons and other new features—things players saw in the recent closed beta—during today’s livestream. We’ll share more information as soon as it’s available, so keep an eye out for updates.
