With the March 5th release of Marathon approaching, Bungie has shared a new cinematic trailer. This trailer highlights the Destroyer shell, one of the options players can choose for their Runner archetype. Instead of showing actual gameplay, the trailer emphasizes the Destroyer’s power in battle and the courageous nature of Runners who equip it. You can watch the trailer below.
The Destroyer demonstrates some of its abilities, such as a visor mode for finding loot. During a battle, the Runner quickly deploys an energy shield to deflect an explosion and is prepared to fire back with a pistol.
So, I’m super excited – Bungie finally announced when Marathon is dropping on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S earlier this month! They also showed off details about a Deluxe Edition and a really cool Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition is a bit pricey at $229.99 and only available through the Bungie store, but it comes with some awesome stuff like a Thief Runner Shell statue, a tiny WEAVE worm, postcards, and a bunch of other physical goodies. I’m definitely tempted!
This edition comes with all the digital bonuses found in the Deluxe Edition, including a code for the Premium Rewards Pass, 200 SILK tokens, and exclusive weapon and character skins for MIDNIGHT DECAY. You’ll get two weapon styles (for the Misriah 2442 Pump Shotgun and Overrun AR) and four character styles for the Vandal, Thief, Assassin, and Destroyer classes. The standard version costs $39.99, and the Deluxe Edition is priced at $59.99.
To build excitement for the release of Marathon, Sony has unveiled a special Limited Edition DualSense controller. Inspired by the game’s look and feel, the controller shares Marathon’s striking color scheme and design, mixing classic science fiction with a contemporary style.
When revealing the controller, Bungie’s communications manager Nikki Brown explained that their goal was to capture the game’s striking visual style – its bold graphics, bright colors, and overall artistic direction – as well as the detailed design of its industrial elements, buildings, and environments. The final design aims to embody the game’s blend of sleek aesthetics and practical purpose, combining streamlined shapes, intentional details, and vibrant colors to feel both modern and realistic.
If you’re planning to play the upcoming extraction shooter on PC, you’ll be glad to know the system requirements are fairly standard. Bungie recommends at least an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500 processor, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (with 6GB VRAM), an AMD Radeon 5700 XT (8GB VRAM), or an Intel Arc A770 (16GB VRAM with ReBAR enabled) graphics card. The amount of storage space needed for the game, called Marathon, hasn’t been announced yet, but Bungie’s previous game, Destiny 2, is known for being a very large download.
If you’re interested in Marathon, you might have heard about a funny bug that briefly caused Steam to download Destiny 2 when players pre-ordered it. Thankfully, the issue has now been resolved.
