Many players find it hard to level up quickly in Marathon, and it’s a common issue. Simply running and shooting isn’t the most efficient way to progress. While fighting AI and other players can be fun, the real key to faster leveling lies in understanding a different part of the game.
This guide is all about clarifying how you can level up quickly and efficiently in Marathon.
Contracting
Contracts are essential for leveling up in Marathon XP. Always choose Priority contracts instead of Standard ones when you can. Also, quickly raise your rank with your preferred faction to unlock even more contract options.
Solo vs Team Runs
When tackling Contracts, you can choose to play with others or go it alone, depending on what’s most important to you. If you want to level up quickly, teaming up is the way to go. Working together lets you finish objectives much faster than if you were on your own. Plus, even if your teammates are working on different Contracts, you’ll still earn XP when they complete their goals, just by being in a team. This can significantly boost your XP gains beyond what you’d get from completing your own Contract.
If you’re playing solo and also want to improve your standing with a faction, completing Contracts will now give you extra faction reputation.
Extract Early
Dying while on a mission means losing everything you’ve collected, and you’ll earn less experience than if you successfully leave the area. Once your inventory is full or you’ve finished your objectives, it’s better to leave instead of risking your life for more loot or kills. Use any tools or upgrades you have to stay hidden and avoid enemies.
That is everything you need to know about ranking up your Runners fast in Marathon.
