Marathon Guide – Lockdown Event

Getting the best gear is crucial in Marathon, and while you can find items by searching and exploring, there are also reliable ways to get good loot. The Lockdown event on Dire Marsh is one of these, but it works a little differently than other methods, so it’s good to know how it operates beforehand.

This Marathon guide is specifically for the Lockdown world event that occurs in Dire Marsh.

Lockdown Event

This special event only happens in the Dire Marsh, and it starts around fifteen minutes into each playthrough. During the event, you’ll face off against the UESC AI in a series of defensive battles at three different spots, with enemies coming in multiple waves.

Before heading into the red event zone, make sure you have an Antivirus Pack. Bring plenty of ammo – you’ll need it for both the AI enemies and other player teams competing in the event. Cardio Kicks will be useful for getting around quickly, since speed is important.

The round starts when a huge ship comes into view in the sky. Get to it immediately, because you’re also running out of time to escape!

Find the first UESC Security Cache by spotting the blue, vertical laser beam. Search the area around the beam for a ‘Lockdown Drive’ and insert it into the cache to activate it. This will start the first of three enemy attacks. Once you defeat all enemies in the final wave, the UESC Security Cache will unlock, giving you access to its contents.

Don’t forget to grab the Lockdown Drive from the UESC Security Cache. You’ll need it to start the next wave sequence.

Another ship will arrive soon, so follow it to start the process over again.

Please retrieve the ‘Prime Lockdown Drive’ and deliver it to the UESC Security Cache at the final designated location.

After defeating the final UESC enemy here, you will have successfully completed the event.

This final Security Cache from the event has the most valuable rewards. Don’t worry if you don’t reach it in time – you’ll have another chance on your next attempt.
