To build excitement for next week’s Server Slam, Bungie is sharing more gameplay footage from Marathon. After releasing a launch trailer, they’ve now published two new videos showcasing different aspects of the game.
One option is the title “DEATH AWAITS” – it’s direct, but captures the game’s themes well. Players will experience death in many forms on Tau Ceti IV, both as the one dealing it and the one receiving it. You might play as a stealthy Assassin, taking down enemies from behind, or find yourself desperately pleading for your life before being killed. Being a Runner is dangerous, especially with hostile alien creatures roaming around.
The second option is particularly interesting because it involves a team of two players and two Rooks collaborating. Rooks primarily act as safe scavengers, helping you collect items without much risk, but you can also team up with them for a limited time. The update also includes details about PvE content, such as Commanders potentially dropping valuable Gold items.
When using nearby voice chat, the sound gets softer as players move away from each other, so wandering off alone isn’t always a good idea. Consider the Assassin class – it excels at taking out isolated players.
Marathon’s Server Slam event runs from February 26th to March 2nd. It features two maps and the first set of Contracts for five of the game’s six Factions. You can find more information about Season 1 and everything it includes here.
