So, Bungie responded to a tweet – probably one that came about because Marathon didn’t exactly blow everyone away when it launched – and their response was actually pretty funny. It’s a lighthearted way of dealing with the situation, which I appreciate.
Although the game is expected to improve with new content like the Cryo Archive, a recent tweet from the studio upset UI designer Elliot Gray. Someone suggested that the team responsible for the studio’s successful shooting games, like the Halo franchise, were no longer there. Gray responded by listing around 40 people who have stayed with the studio since those Halo days and are still working on their games.
Mark Noseworthy, a former Vice President at Destiny who has since moved on, supported Gray and defended Bungie by pointing out that the original post didn’t acknowledge the importance of a company’s history and shared knowledge. He explained that these things are passed down from employee to employee, which is a key reason why Bungie games have maintained their unique feel for over 25 years, even with constant changes to the development team.
The original tweet was met with a playfully sarcastic response, which is quite enjoyable to see. You can find the tweet below if you’re interested. This reaction from Noseworthy and Gray should boost morale, especially as Marathon navigates a challenging period following difficulties with its recent launch.
