Bungie’s new multiplayer game, Marathon, has consistently impressed with its visual style, and it appears the bright neon colors and angular architecture will look particularly stunning on the PlayStation 5 Pro.
I think it’s pretty cool how this game is really taking advantage of the PS5 Pro’s power. It’s not just doing the usual stuff you see with upgrades – they’re doing something a bit different, which is awesome.
PlayStation’s website briefly explains how the upgraded console is being used.
The PS5 Pro uses a new technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to render games internally at 5K, then scale it down to a crisp and stable 4K resolution. This keeps the image clear and detailed, even during fast-paced action, like when you’re playing a game like Runner.
Marathon is initially rendered at 5K resolution, then a technology called PSSR reduces it to 4K. This process should create a noticeably sharper picture on the Pro model.
The game has consistently looked polished in trailers and gameplay, and a new technology might be the reason. If you own a PlayStation 5 Pro, you’ll get a remarkably clear picture while you search for better weapons or items like Um Bongo.
Marathon is launching on March 5th! Are you looking forward to it? If you’re getting the PS5 Pro, let us know in the comments!
