Margot Robbie’s Next Big Movie May Have Just Been Revealed (And It’s Huge)

It appears that Margot Robbie has secured her next project – a remake of “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman,” as per Jeff Sneider’s newsletter, The Insider. Tim Burton is set to direct this upcoming adaptation, and Robbie will not only star in it but also produce the film. This remake is currently being developed at Warner Bros. Pictures, where Robbie’s LuckyChap production company has a multi-year deal for first-look feature films. Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper, who serve as executive producers on Burton’s “Wednesday,” will also produce this new take on the classic story together with Burton and Robbie.

1958’s “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” is a sci-fi/horror movie directed by Nathan H. Juran. The story revolves around Nancy Archer, portrayed by Allison Hayes, who transforms into a giant due to an alien after an unsuccessful assassination attempt. Seeking revenge, Archer targets her unfaithful husband, Harry Archer (played by William Hudson), whom she encounters in a bar with another woman. This film was produced independently and has gained cult status among fans today. Recently, Tim Burton has agreed to direct a remake of the movie, based on a screenplay penned by novelist Gillian Flynn.

Flynn is primarily recognized for her work as an author, having written notable books such as “Gone Girl” and “Dark Places”, with the latter being adapted for television on HBO. In addition to adapting her books “Gone Girl” and “Sharp Objects” into screenplays, Flynn is also credited for writing the film script of “Widows” and creating the television series “Utopia”. This upcoming project will be Flynn’s most significant screenplay credit, while the remake serves as another collaboration between Burton and Warner Bros.

Burton has recently wrapped up work on “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice,” the much-anticipated sequel to his ’80s hit. This movie was a solid earner for the studio, grossing approximately $452 million globally at the box office.

Margot Robbie Will Lead a Remake of a Sci-Fi Classic

The 1958 film titled “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” was initially distributed by Allied Artists Pictures on May 19th. Although exact box office figures haven’t been disclosed for this timeless piece, it is known that the production cost a modest $88,000. Despite lacking official box office reports, the movie reportedly garnered enough income to spark talks about a sequel, possibly in color instead of black and white, with an increased budget. Regrettably, a follow-up was never produced.

Over the past ten years, Margot Robbie has built up a strong acting portfolio. She is most famously recognized for her roles in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” where she played opposite Leonardo DiCaprio; as Harley Quinn in the DC Extended Universe; and more recently, as Barbie in the live-action film adaptation. Other notable credits include “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” “I, Tonya,” “The Legend of Tarzan,” and “Babylon.” Currently, she’s working on a new adaptation of “Wuthering Heights,” portraying Catherine Earnshaw, and is set to star as Sarah in the upcoming film “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.

Right now, you can rent “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, or Fandango Now.
