In the past month, “Mario Kart World” debuted as the flagship game for Nintendo Switch 2. Ever since then, enthusiasts have been flaunting their unique photo mode creations on various social platforms and delving into every hidden corner in free-roam exploration. The price of gaining access to this latest installment in the series is quite substantial, which could potentially leave those without the new Nintendo system yearning a bit. However, fear not, as an older version of Mario Kart is receiving some fresh updates – a welcome relief that should alleviate some of the initial disappointment.
In an unexpected twist, Nintendo has disclosed that more content will be added to the game Mario Kart Tour within a few brief days. This is quite significant since Nintendo announced in September 2023 that updates for the game would cease, with no new tracks, characters, vehicles, or gliders being introduced. In their previous statement, Nintendo clearly stated that “no further courses, drivers, karts, or gliders will be added.” However, the launch of Mario Kart World seems to have been such a momentous occasion that they can’t let it pass without some kind of special recognition, so they’ve decided to host a unique campaign for Mario Kart Tour.
Starting on July 23rd, the latest “Mario Kart Tour” event commences and continues until August 6th. During this period, players can collect Mario and Luigi’s mechanic outfits from the “Mario Kart World,” as well as four new Karts being introduced to the game. These Karts are inspired by the Tiny Titan character that debuted in the Nintendo Switch 2 game. If you’ve been looking for a reason to return to “Mario Kart Tour,” this event might just be the incentive you need!
Although updates for Mario Kart Tour have ceased about two years ago, you can still enjoy playing the game in its entirety. This mobile game left a significant mark on the Mario Kart series by introducing numerous new tracks to the franchise. Most of these tracks were subsequently included in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe via its Booster Course Pass DLC, but one particular track – Piranha Plant Pipeline – remains exclusive to Mario Kart Tour. Interestingly, this track resurfaced within the game this month. It will stay in the game until July 22nd, giving fans ample time to experience it before the start of the Mario Kart World crossover event.
The Little Giant is among the attention-grabbing fresh karts introduced in Mario Kart World. Its unique design catches your eye right away, and all four versions heading to Mario Kart Tour look fantastic. While it might not create as much excitement as new courses, it’s pleasing to see that Nintendo keeps providing fresh content almost six years after the mobile game’s launch.
