In the upcoming detective series “Bookish,” where Mark Gatiss once again graces our screens as creator, we’re also drawing near to a significant anniversary for one of his iconic ventures.
Mark Gatiss initially gained recognition through his collaborations with Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith, and Jeremy Dyson in the series The League of Gentlemen. This show had not appeared on screens since it aired three special episodes for its 20th anniversary back in 2017.
Approaching our 30th anniversary in 2027, we had an exclusive conversation with Gatiss to find out if there might be more special episodes in the future.
He firmly replied, “Initially, I had planned to title our reunion from 2017 as ‘Just About Getting Away With It.’ However, I’m not sure if that title still applies now.

Besides making an appearance on TV, the show titled “The League of Gentlemen” has also graced stages, airwaves, and cinema screens. The story unfolds in the fictional town of Royston Vasey, located up north, where it delves into the lives of various characters primarily portrayed by Gatiss, Pemberton, and Shearsmith.
Gatiss recently had a conversation with TopMob as part of our upcoming video interview series, titled “The TopMob Brainstorming Sessions“. The complete series is set to premiere on Wednesday, 16th July.
During the conversation he discussed his work on Doctor Who, Sherlock and his new series Bookish.
In simpler terms, “Bookish” is a crime-solving drama series that unfolds in the year 1946. The story revolves around the character of Gabriel Book, played by Gatiss, who owns an antique bookstore and assists the police in resolving mysteries due to his extensive knowledge of books.
This series additionally features Polly Walker (from Bridgerton), Elliot Levey (We Were the Lucky Ones), Connor Finch (Professor T), Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners), and Buket Kömür (Generation Z). It’s already been granted a green light for another season.
