Marvel Announces Full Cast of Avengers: Doomsday

How many Marvel Cinematic Universe actors are appearing in “Avengers: Doomsday“? Marvel Studios revealed this information during an unexpected live stream event, keeping fans guessing with a video that simply read “ANNOUNCEMENT”. This led to a live-stream of an empty stage with director’s chairs labeled with different MCU actors’ names. The camera moved slowly down the line, unveiling each chair at intervals of around ten to fifteen minutes.

Going in order of the names revealed in the video, this is the confirmed cast (so far):

One of the most exciting revelations in the cast is Bryan Singer’s return as Beast for the X-Men, joining other notable mutants like Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming) and Mystique. The eagerly anticipated comebacks from the original X-Men Trilogy, particularly those of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen as Charles Xavier and Magneto, are only surpassed by their reprisals. After almost a decade, Channing Tatum will finally embody his Gambit character from Deadpool & Wolverine, uniting with other X-Men in the anticipated ensemble.

Namor’s comeback took everyone by surprise, as his future with Marvel Studios was previously unclear, and he had only appeared as a one-time villain in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, it seems that Namor, Shuri (and possibly Sue Storm), have some unfinished business. The announcement of Thunderbolts characters like Wyatt Russell’s John Walker and Lewis Pullman’s The Sentry, before their movie has even been released, is intriguing. Also, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is back, having ended Season 2 in a significant role as the new god of the multiverse. Will Loki face another tragic demise for the upcoming Avengers films to progress? Doom might require it…

Regarding the grand conclusion, it felt a bit unusual when Robert Downey Jr., dressed casually instead of his usual Comic-Con attire, whispered “Shhhh…” following a 5-hour long livestream event. However, the secret is out now.

The chosen cast will be tasked with realizing the grand plan that Marvel and the Russo Brothers have envisioned for “Avengers: Doomsday.” Notably, the Russos have established lofty expectations for “Doomsday,” as they’ve stated that its captivating narrative was the reason they decided to return to the MCU after declaring they had finished their tenure following the monumental achievements of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.

According to Joe Russo, Robert Downey Jr. proposed the idea for the Avengers movies, but we initially refused. We had previously stated that we wouldn’t return because we didn’t have a suitable plot or an effective way to approach the story. However, our colleague Stephen McFeely presented an intriguing concept one day. Upon hearing it, we realized that was the story we needed to tell! It was a compelling tale that needed to be shared.

It’s yet unclear how these characters align with the “powerful story”; however, their roles are bound to spark plenty of discussion and theory-making in the coming year.

Avengers: Doomsday has a release date of May 1, 2026.
