The final season of My Hero Academia, season eight, begins this weekend, signaling the approaching end for UA Academy. The superhero anime, which has been running for over ten years, has consistently increased the tension with each new season, building towards a final confrontation between the heroes and villains. While fans can expect original artwork from the series creator, Kohei Horikoshi, a well-known artist from Marvel has also shared their interpretation of one of the anime’s most powerful characters. Although primarily working on comics in North America, this artist seems perfectly suited to illustrate Bakugo.
A Marvel artist recently reimagined a beloved character from the My Hero Academia series, and Marvel officially revealed the artwork. Posted on Marvel Comics’ social media, the publisher announced, “It’s finally here! To celebrate the final season of My Hero Academia, Marvel and My Hero Academia are collaborating again to present Bakugo in a completely new way. This special artwork was created by Marvel artist Olivier Coipel, taking inspiration from Miles Morales.” You can view this exciting crossover art below.
Marvel Meets My Hero
Last year, we at egmr.ru spoke with My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi. He happily talked about his appreciation for Marvel. He explained that the movie, Spider-Man 2, greatly influenced the shonen series. Horikoshi specifically stated,
This might not directly address your question, but there’s a moment in Spider-Man 2 with Tobey Maguire where Spider-Man halts a speeding train. During this scene, regular people catch a glimpse of his face. However, a child then offers him the mask they found, promising, “I won’t tell anyone.” I believe this scene perfectly illustrates what a hero truly is: someone who assists everyday people, and in turn, is supported by them. I think that’s the complete answer – it’s a simple exchange of help and trust.
Regarding the Marvel artist who recently reimagined Bakugo, Olivier Coipel has consistently delivered impressive work for the comic book company. He has a long list of successful titles to his name, including Thor, New Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, House of M, and many others. While there hasn’t been an official team-up between the characters of Marvel and My Hero Academia yet, even with the manga’s conclusion, there’s still a possibility we could see these universes collide. Previously, the Avengers battled the massive threats from Attack on Titan, demonstrating that both manga and North American comics are open to sharing the stage.
