As a longtime comic book fan, I’ve always been fascinated by the limits of the Hulk’s strength. We all know he’s incredibly powerful, but Marvel is really pushing the boundaries in recent issues. I haven’t followed every Hulk story, but even a casual reader knows he’s faced some seriously tough opponents – everything from monsters and gods to actual natural disasters. And honestly, I love seeing Marvel put the Hulk in situations that truly demonstrate just how unbelievably strong he is. It’s not just about being strong; it’s about showing us the scale of that power, and they’re doing a great job with it.
Take, for example, the new comic series Hulk: Smash Everything by Ryan North and Vincenzo Carratù. The series explores what it really means for the Hulk to be the strongest one there is. The villain, the Leader, tricked Hulk into going after Doctor Strange, hoping to rob Strange’s home. However, Strange managed to turn Hulk’s rage against the Leader himself. But the Leader had a plan within a plan, and sent Hulk back in time millions of years, just before a major extinction event.
Hulk Survives the Asteroid that Wiped Out the Dinosaurs

The second issue of Hulk: Smash Everything starts with the Hulk happily destroying any creatures that challenge him. However, he doesn’t realize the disaster about to strike prehistoric Earth. He’s landed just before a massive asteroid impact – the event that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs and seventy-five percent of all life. The comic vividly depicts the devastation that will follow, comparing the sheer power of the impact to a billion nuclear bombs.
The Hulk is right where the asteroid landed, and everything around him immediately dies. Other creatures suffer for days or even months as the planet recovers from the impact. However, despite this deadly environment, the Hulk survives, driven by his anger and the immense pain he’s feeling. The story emphasizes the brutal details, even pointing out that the heat isn’t enough to harm the Hulk’s body.
The Hulk relentlessly continues, even as the devastated planet tears him apart. He recovers faster than he can be destroyed, trapped in a never-ending loop of pain and fury – but it’s that rage that keeps him going. Eventually, he encounters some of the last animals on Earth and unleashes his destructive power on them. However, this catches the attention of the Leader, who realizes Hulk’s actions are dangerously disrupting the flow of time.
The Hulk’s Power-Level is Impressive (And Gruesome)

We all know the Hulk is incredibly strong, but seeing that strength tested against a truly massive threat – like one that could cause extinction – is something else entirely. Writer Ryan North is great at weaving in real science and historical details to make stories more compelling, and he really delivers here. For those of us who struggle to grasp just how powerful the Hulk is, this was a fantastic – and frankly, terrifying – demonstration of his capabilities.
Look, we all know the Hulk is incredibly strong, and surviving an asteroid impact might not even be his most impressive feat considering his history. But what I really liked about this story was how it balanced showing off the Hulk’s raw power with giving us a real sense of what that kind of trauma feels like for him. It was a tough read, definitely pretty brutal, but I honestly came away with a much deeper understanding of just how much the Hulk can endure. It wasn’t just about the spectacle, it was about the experience, and that really resonated with me.
While there are many stories showcasing the Hulk’s incredible strength, Hulk: Smash Everything is a particularly strong one. We enjoy watching the Hulk destroy things, but this story also effectively demonstrates his amazing durability and ability to withstand immense punishment. I’m excited to see what else this series has in store for the Hulk, and I’m confident it will be as captivating as seeing him survive an event that wiped out the dinosaurs.
