The 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron was a key moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As the second team-up movie, it had a lot to live up to after the huge success of 2012’s The Avengers, and hinted at even bigger events to come, given the important story it was based on. The movie pitted the original Avengers against Ultron, along with the twins Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, who started as villains but eventually joined the heroes. Wanda’s actions, specifically a vision she gave Tony Stark, were the catalyst for Ultron’s creation. Even today, over a decade later, that vision continues to spark questions about the MCU’s overall story.
A recent post on X (formerly Twitter) by @kickingcomics highlighted a mysterious character in a scene from a vision Tony Stark had of the Avengers’ defeat. The scene shows the original Avengers team either dead or badly wounded, and a woman who hasn’t appeared in any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films or shows is visible among them, lying next to Hawkeye. Fans are now trying to figure out who she is and why she was included in that specific, grim vision, as she’s the only person in the scene who isn’t a known ally of the Avengers at that point in the story.
More than ten years later, the identity of the mysterious woman Tony Stark saw in his vision during the events of Age of Ultron remains a mystery.

Who Age Of Ultron’s Mystery Character Could Be & Why She Hasn’t Appeared

Several theories attempt to identify the mysterious woman, but little proof backs them up. One idea is that she was originally meant to be Quake, a popular character from the TV show Agents of SHIELD. The creators may have considered bringing Quake into the main movie storyline, but complications with licensing and the growing disconnect between Agents of SHIELD and the Marvel Cinematic Universe ultimately prevented it.
Some fans believe the mysterious woman could be Yo-Yo, also known as Slingshot, a character from the Agents of SHIELD TV show. She was just about to appear on the show when Age of Ultron came out, and some think her identity was never revealed because plans to connect the movie and show were cancelled. Like the theory about Quake, this idea isn’t strongly supported by evidence – it mostly relies on the timing of the scene. However, it’s also possible the woman isn’t connected to Agents of SHIELD at all.
Some fans believe the woman is just an unnamed SHIELD agent meant to show the organization’s final collapse with the Avengers. While this makes sense, it’s probably not right, considering she’s standing near Hawkeye and is the only person in the scene who isn’t an Avenger. Using Nick Fury or Maria Hill would have been a clearer way to show that SHIELD was falling. A better idea might be for Marvel to bring this mysterious character back in Avengers: Doomsday. This would finally solve a mystery that’s been around for ten years and introduce a new, exciting hero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
