The comic story ‘One World Under Doom’ centers around Doctor Doom declaring the entire Earth to be part of his nation, Latveria – which he renames ‘United Latveria’ – and attempting to take over the world. This causes widespread conflict and forces several heroes to team up to oppose Doom and his plans.

One World Under Doom effectively portrays the terrifying power of Doctor Doom, his unwavering dedication to his goals, and the difficult choices faced by those who oppose him. The story highlights that many actually sympathize with Doom, believing his actions are ultimately for the greater good.

Why One World Under Doom Wouldn’t Work For The MCU Right Now

Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe could have potentially used this storyline successfully, it doesn’t seem like they will. This is mainly because the comic book came out after the plans for the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ movies were already underway, and introducing a crucial character – Valeria Richards – would be too difficult at this point.

Valeria’s backstory is quite complicated. She’s been portrayed as both the child of Doctor Doom and the daughter of Reed and Sue Richards (Mr. and Mrs. Fantastic). Interestingly, her relationship with Doom is one of the few healthy connections he has. This is highlighted in the story ‘One World Under Doom,’ where she’s the only person he truly listens to.

The injury to Valeria in One World Under Doom #8 is crucial to the story, and the emotional impact comes from the established connection between her and Doom. Because the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t built up Valeria’s character or their relationship, it seems unlikely they could successfully adapt this storyline or capture the same emotional weight from the comic.

The end-credit scenes for both The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts hint that the movies will center around Doctor Doom’s relationship with young Franklin Richards and how he connects with the Fantastic Four.
