Marvel TV executive Brad Winderbaum recently spoke highly of one of the first Marvel shows, praising its impact on the MCU.
What canceled MCU show received praise?
I was really excited to hear Kevin Winderbaum, a big shot at Marvel Studios who oversees their streaming, TV, and animation, give some serious love to *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.* during a recent live show appearance at New York Comic Con. It’s great to see that show getting recognized!
Winderbaum believes the show remains enjoyable even now, highlighting several stretches of particularly strong episodes. He noted that the series often finds its rhythm, delivering a run of five or six outstanding episodes in a row.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. first aired in 2013 and continued for seven seasons, totaling over 130 episodes. Created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, the show was led by showrunners Jed Whedon, Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell. It was groundbreaking as the first television series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and centered on the adventures of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agency.
Though Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn’t a major contributor to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it did surprisingly introduce Ghost Rider, a character who hasn’t appeared in the MCU since. Gabriel Luna played the character when he first showed up in Season 4 of the show, and fans have been hoping to see him return ever since.
