‘Marvel Icon Wants ‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson to Join the MCU as Venom

At 6’3″ and incredibly muscular, Joe Manganiello is a natural fit for a major superhero movie. While fans have been suggesting him for the role of Batman in James Gunn’s new DC Universe, a prominent figure from Marvel actually has another role in mind for him.

Look, I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about Alan Ritchson as the next Batman, and honestly, he’d be amazing alongside David Corenswet’s Superman. But considering he’s already spent time in the DC universe with roles in Smallville and Titans, don’t you think it’s time he switched over to Marvel? I’m not alone in thinking this – comic book writer David Michelinie already has the perfect villain role in mind for him, and it makes a lot of sense!

I was chatting with TheDoctorX11 recently, and he told me something really interesting. He’d asked David Michelinie, one of the creators of Venom, who he thought would be a good Eddie Brock. I actually suggested Alan Ritchson – you know, the guy from Reacher – and Michelinie totally agreed! He’s really keen on seeing Ritchson suit up as Venom in any future Spider-Man movies. It’s awesome to hear the creator himself is on board with that casting choice!

I previously shared photos of Jack Ritchson – including one of him without a shirt and another of him shouting – suggesting he’d be ideal for the role of Eddie Brock/Venom. It seems like others agree with my vision.

Would Alan Ritchson Make a Good Venom in the MCU?

Sony Pictures

It seems likely Alan Ritchson will be cast as Eddie Brock, the character known as Venom. Many fans point out his strong resemblance to the comic book version of the character. Venom first appeared in 1984 and has since been featured in animated series and films. Most recently, Tom Hardy famously played the role in three movies connected to Sony’s attempt at building a Spider-Man cinematic universe.

With the Venom movies likely finished and a crossover between Tom Hardy’s Venom and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man looking unlikely, fans might be wondering what’s next for the character. Many believe Alan Ritchson would be a perfect fit for a new take on the villain, and even the character’s original creator agrees – he thinks Ritchson is the best choice.

Although some Batman fans might be disappointed that Alan Ritchson is leaning towards joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe instead of the DC Universe, the actor has confirmed he won’t be playing Bruce Wayne. Ritchson acknowledged that James Gunn, the DCU head, is a fan of his work, and he feels the same way about Gunn. While they’ve discussed the possibility of him playing Batman, Ritchson doesn’t believe it will happen. He does, however, hope to work with DC on a different project in the future.

Just last November, Alan Ritchson mentioned he’d like to play a more complex and troubled character within the DC Universe. Many fans are now wondering if his upcoming role as Venom could be that opportunity. While his future in comics remains uncertain, Ritchson will be back as Jack Reacher in Season 4 of Reacher, which is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in 2026.
