Spider-Man is a hugely popular Marvel character, and for generations, Peter Parker has inspired countless fans. Now, another Spider-Man, Miles Morales, is just as important to the hero’s legacy. Originally appearing in an alternate Marvel universe after the death of the original Spider-Man, Miles has quickly become a fan favorite. Both Spider-Men protect New York City, keeping its streets safe, so it’s natural they sometimes team up to fight crime together.
While it makes perfect sense for Spider-Man and Spider-Man to team up, they usually operate independently or even hinder each other. They’ve only truly collaborated in one short story arc, and otherwise, have been mostly solo acts. Peter and Miles don’t team up as often as fans would like, but thankfully, issue #41 of Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2023) promises to be one of their best team-ups yet.
Spiders At Each Other’s Throats

Peter and Miles’s first encounter was chaotic. Peter unexpectedly arrived in Miles’s universe and they initially fought due to a misunderstanding. Luckily, they eventually talked it out and became close friends. They teamed up successfully in events like the original Spider-Verse and Secret Wars (2015). But when Miles moved to Peter’s universe (616), their partnership began to fall apart.
At that point, Miles was still relatively new to being Spider-Man, and Peter Parker was going through a particularly selfish phase as the head of Parker Industries. Whenever Spider-Man faced criticism, Peter would get annoyed and pressure Miles to defend their reputation. Things got a little better when Peter started acting more like his usual heroic self, but the two Spider-Men didn’t truly connect. Peter would sometimes briefly appear in Miles’s stories just to inform him of his travel plans, and that was the extent of their interaction.
Although Peter Parker and Miles Morales previously teamed up in The Spectacular Spider-Men, that series took a long time to launch and only lasted fifteen issues. More recently, they’ve been shown fighting as often as they’ve been working together, which is disappointing given how great they are as a team. Fortunately, that’s starting to change with issues #41 and #42 of Miles Morales: Spider-Man.
Spider-Bros Who Have Each Other’s Backs

The story reached a climax with Miles facing off against his greatest enemy, Rabble. Driven to defeat Spider-Man, she resurrected the Assessor, a robot with a devastating history with Miles. However, Rabble lost control of the Assessor, who then turned on both of them. Miles fought valiantly, but couldn’t defeat the Assessor and his clone army on his own. Just when all seemed lost, Miles received unexpected help – a miracle granted by the Spider God, Anasi.
Anasi felt indebted to Miles and wanted to help him, so she brought in another Spider-Man – Peter Parker from another dimension! When one Spider-Man wasn’t enough, two teamed up. Peter quickly helped defeat the duplicates and shared a warm reunion with Miles. Together, they prepared to fight the Assessor, showcasing the ideal dynamic between the two heroes. The story portrayed them as equals and close partners, the kind of relationship fans have always wanted to see. It perfectly captured how Peter and Miles work best: as mutual Spider-Men with genuine respect for each other.
This Spider-Men team-up is building towards a huge showdown in the next issue, and hints at a bright future for the two heroes. I’m really looking forward to seeing them continue working together as partners and friends, and the adventures that await them.
