Marvel Is Finally Paying Off a Post-Credits Scene After 9 Years & It Gives Hope for These 7 MCU Characters

The upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie seems poised to finally resolve a long-standing post-credits scene from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This raises hopes that other characters who were left with unresolved storylines might also get their moment. In the past, MCU post-credits scenes directly hinted at future movies, which fans loved. Now, they often introduce stories or characters that don’t reappear for a long time, leaving many plot threads hanging.

A memorable post-credits scene in the 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming showed Mac Gargan, played by Michael Mando, meeting the Vulture while in prison. This hinted that the character Scorpion would appear in a future Spider-Man movie, but after Far From Home and No Way Home released without him, many fans thought that storyline was dropped. Now, Michael Mando is confirmed to return as Scorpion in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, exciting fans who were hoping to see this character – and seven others – make a comeback.

7) Sharon Carter

Sharon Carter has played a significant role in several Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The last of these revealed she was secretly the villain known as the Power Broker. While she was set up to be a major criminal figure in Madripoor, that storyline wasn’t fully explored in Captain America: Brave New World. However, she may reappear in a future Captain America or Wolverine project.

6) Clea

Out of all the characters mentioned, Clea seems most likely to reappear. Charlize Theron first played Clea in a short scene after the credits of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she invited Doctor Strange on a new journey. While we haven’t seen Clea since, Doctor Strange is also missing, suggesting they might show up together when Strange returns. We could potentially see Clea in a future Doctor Strange movie, or even in Avengers: Secret Wars.

5) Jake Lockley

Though Jake Lockley is one of Moon Knight’s core identities alongside Marc Spector and Steven Grant, he wasn’t fully featured in the Disney+ series. The show’s ending, however, hinted at Jake’s continued involvement with Khonshu. Whether Moon Knight will return is uncertain, but a second season would be a good opportunity to delve into Jake Lockley’s personality and role.

4) Blade

Blade is a well-known Marvel character, and Mahershala Ali has been cast to play the vampire hunter. However, he’s only appeared briefly – through a voiceover – in a scene after the credits of the movie Eternals. A Blade film has been planned for a long time, but various problems during production have delayed it. It would be surprising if Marvel decided not to move forward with a movie starring such a popular character.

3) Dane Whitman

The movie Eternals included a hint about the Black Knight, Dane Whitman, in a scene after the credits. Blade encouraged Kit Harrington’s character to use the Ebony Blade and become the Black Knight. However, neither Dane Whitman nor any of the characters from Eternals have appeared in another Marvel Cinematic Universe film since, leaving fans who are excited about Black Knight still waiting for his official introduction.

2) Eros

After the credits of the movie Eternals, a new character appeared: Eros, played by Harry Styles. He’s the brother of the villain Thanos and, along with his companion Pip the Troll, offers help to the remaining Eternals in finding their lost teammates. While a sequel to Eternals doesn’t seem likely, Eros could potentially appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

1) Hercules

Out of all the characters mentioned, Hercules is the least likely to appear in a future Marvel movie. Played by Brett Goldstein, he showed up in a brief scene after the credits of Thor: Love & Thunder, sent by Russell Crowe’s Zeus to hunt down Thor. While Hercules is a significant character in Marvel comics, the studio seems to be moving away from the style of Love & Thunder. This suggests that if Thor 5 happens, it will likely go in a different direction, and Hercules would probably need to be introduced in a separate Marvel project instead.
