Marvel Just Messed Up The Perfect Chance to Bring One of Deadpool & Wolverine’s Craziest Characters Back to the MCU

The recent film *Deadpool & Wolverine* introduced numerous alternate versions of Deadpool and Wolverine from different universes. One particularly unique version could have appeared in the animated *Marvel Zombies* series, but Marvel Studios chose not to bring it—or any of these variants—back into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. So far, these alternate versions of Ryan Reynolds’ and Hugh Jackman’s characters have only been seen in *Deadpool & Wolverine*.

I was really hoping to see Headpool—the zombified version of Deadpool—in the new *Marvel Zombies* series! As a fan of the original 2005 *Marvel Zombies* comics, I remember how terrifying the zombie heroes were in that alternate Earth 2149. It was so cool to see that world explored in *What If…?* and this new series. The comics showed how Jennifer Kale from our main Marvel universe (Earth 616) actually destroyed zombified Deadpool, leaving only his head intact. With Jennifer Kale now part of the MCU, it felt like a perfect opportunity to bring that backstory to life, but sadly, they didn’t include Headpool. It would have been amazing to see that connection made!

When Could Deadpool & Wolverine’s Other Variants Return to the MCU?

It would have been a great fit to bring Headpool into the MCU during *Marvel Zombies*. This could have established Deadpool as a major character for future Marvel projects, but Marvel Studios didn’t take that chance. *Marvel Zombies* could have shown us Headpool’s backstory from Earth-2149 alongside the heroes’ fight against Wanda Maximoff’s zombie army. Now, we’re left wondering if Headpool will ever appear in the MCU. Of course, Headpool isn’t the only version of Deadpool or Wolverine fans are hoping to see return.

The Deadpool Corps, a team of various Deadpool versions who worked for Cassandra Nova, could reappear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Fans would love to see characters like Lady Deadpool, Zenpool, and others return. With upcoming movies like *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Avengers: Secret Wars* expected to revisit the Void, Marvel has a great chance to bring back the entire Deadpool Corps – and maybe even alternate versions of Wolverine as well.

While Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine may be gone in one universe, fans are eager to see other versions of the character reappear. The recent *Deadpool & Wolverine* trailer showed glimpses of exciting variants – a Wolverine from a post-apocalyptic future, one who battled the Hulk, and another with an eyepatch. However, many fans are especially hoping to see Henry Cavill play a version of Wolverine – affectionately nicknamed ‘Cavillrine’. The upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Secret Wars* movies seem like the perfect chance to bring these alternate Wolverines back, though it would be great to see more projects within the Multiverse Saga explore them individually. Maybe the second season of *Marvel Zombies* could even focus on Headpool.
