The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is being promoted with a unique trailer release strategy. Instead of one large trailer, Marvel Studios is revealing short teasers each week, each highlighting a different character. So far, we’ve seen the return of Captain America (Steve Rogers) and learned he has a son, witnessed a worried Thor praying for his daughter Love, and seen the X-Men potentially making their final appearance. The next trailer will take viewers back to Wakanda.
The newest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has been released, and even though it’s a leaked, low-quality version, fans are already discussing it. One particular scene is causing a lot of concern among Marvel enthusiasts…
Where Is Prince Toussaint In Avengers: Doomsday?

The trailer begins with Shuri walking through a desolate landscape, narrating, “I’ve lost everyone that matters to me. A King has his duties: To prepare our people for the afterlife. I have mine.” We then see Shuri and M’Baku being led by the Dora Milaje to a ship where Ben Grimm, also known as the Thing, is waiting. He appears to be with Namor and his army.
Shuri recently said she’s lost “everyone that matters to me,” and fans are wondering if that statement should be taken at face value. It’s got a lot of people in the Marvel Cinematic Universe concerned about what that could mean.
At the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Shuri had experienced immense loss, grieving her brother T’Challa, her father T’Chaka, and her mother, Queen Ramonda. However, she also discovered a new family connection through her nephew, Toussaint, the son of T’Challa and Nakia. Considering all this, you might think Shuri would be completely heartbroken, losing everyone she cared about.
Shuri’s Doomsday Trailer May Be A Fake-Out

Let’s explore some possible interpretations of what’s happening in the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer featuring the Wakandans and Fantastic Four.
One possibility is that Shuri is actually speaking to her nephew. Toussaint might want to prove he’s ready to be king by joining Shuri on a mission to save the world, but the words we hear in the trailer sound like something Shuri would say to him, keeping him safe in Wakanda. This could also explain why Toussaint wasn’t present when the Wakandan delegation met Ben Grimm. It would even make sense of who Shuri is saluting before leaving on the ship.
Another possibility is that Shuri’s speech happens at a different point in the movie, and she’s talking to someone else – perhaps M’Baku, Namor, or Okoye. In that case, she might be explaining why she feels driven to become the new Black Panther and fight as an Avenger, instead of staying in Wakanda to be queen. She might still be hesitant to reveal T’Challa’s son to this person, and intentionally leaves the impression that she’s lost everyone she cares about.
One final, though less probable, possibility is that Shuri is telling the truth. The Black Panther movies have always dealt with loss – T’Chaka died in Captain America: Civil War, and sadly, Chadwick Boseman passed away before Wakanda Forever. So, if a future film showed that Toussaint (or Nakia) had also died, it would unfortunately fit the pattern. It’s a dark path for the story to take, but considering the rumors about Marvel potentially introducing a new version of T’Challa in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars… it’s possible the franchise wants to make room for his return.
