In “Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion,” readers have been eagerly anticipating a much-awaited crossover since the days of “Ultimate Invasion.” This time, Miles Morales inadvertently steps into Earth-6160 from another universe, all thanks to a card given by The Maker, intended for Miles but picked up instead by his two-year-old sister. In pursuit of his little one, Miles finds himself on an unexpected journey through the new Ultimate Universe. The second issue finds Miles accompanied by Ant-Man and Wasp, who are hot on the trail of Miles’ lost sibling in Wakanda. There, they encounter T’Challa, Storm, Shuri, and Killmonger, who discover something intriguing about the girl that could potentially alter everything.
In the second issue of “Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion,” things are kept simple yet intriguing for the Ultimate Universe. A fresh concept is introduced that fits well when recalling The Maker and Miles’s encounters in “Ultimate Invasion.” The Maker, absent from recent Ultimate comics, is secretly residing within the city, but there’s a strong possibility he’s made a significant blunder concerning Miles. As the appearance of The Maker draws nearer, “Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion” could potentially introduce an unforeseen character to give our heroes an advantage.
Miles Morales’ Sister Could Be the Key to Getting in to the City
Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1 showcases Miles teaming up with Peter and Richard Parker in an attempt to locate Billie, but unfortunately, he was off by a whole continent. Billie was actually in Wakanda, which seems like the most secure location for her. The next issue, Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #2, reveals that Billie was discovered at the border of Wakanda. Shuri then discloses the reason they’ve kept her hidden – she bears an energy signature similar to that of the Maker. It’s assumed that this connection stems from using the Maker’s technology to traverse the cosmic divide, but there might be more to it. The Maker gave Miles a card that Billie found, intending for Miles to join him in the Ultimate Universe. Although the card would likely have transported Miles directly to New York City of the Ultimate Universe, Miles probably would have figured out the location and made his way there eventually. The city, so far, is impenetrable, and Miles would require a means to break through. The card may have infused Miles with energy that the city’s systems could recognize, allowing him entry into the city to meet with the Maker. This twist in the story might not have been anticipated when considering how the Ultimate Universe would unfold.
Billie’s essence carries a distinct energy mark, hinting at the Creator’s origin. Initially, T’Challa ponders if she might be a tool of the Creator, but Shuri dismisses that notion. The energy pattern isn’t that of a weapon, or one familiar to Shuri. Instead, it’s indicative of teleportation. This discovery aligns with Billie’s arrival on Earth-6160, but there could be more to it. Since Shuri can detect the energy signature, so could the Creator’s machinery. If Billie is the key to opening the City, as Shuri suggests, then she might help the heroes confront the Creator before he’s prepared, potentially ending the Ultimate Universe. This role for Billie Morales makes her one of the most significant humans on Earth-6160 in the Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #2 comic series. While the story doesn’t explicitly confirm that Billie can enter the City, Shuri does refer to her as a “key” at some point, suggesting this could be possible.
Billie’s Arrival on Earth-6160 Could Spell the End for the Maker
Lately, it has come to light that the initial stage of the Ultimate Universe will conclude with issue 24 of Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Black Panther, and Ultimate X-Men.. The six-issue series titled Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion was released the same month that issues 18 of both Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Black Panther were published (Ultimate X-Men is currently behind, having reached issue #16 due to delays). Notably, the final installment of Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion coincides with the release of issue 24 in the other two series. This could suggest that the climax of the first phase of the Ultimate Universe was planned all along.
The concept that Billie Morales is the pivotal figure in the Ultimate Universe offers an intriguing twist. This wasn’t a prediction when Marvel initially hinted at Miles and the Maker’s encounter in the new Ultimate Universe. However, given the latest developments in Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion, it seems we might be steering towards that scenario. Yet, it could just as easily be a misdirection, but the storyline certainly hints at this possibility.
