Marvel Officially Releases Avengers: Doomsday’s Thor Trailer & Confirms Forgotten MCU Character

The marketing campaign for Avengers: Doomsday is impressive, releasing individual trailers that focus on each character and their current situation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom arrives. We’ve already seen a trailer confirming Chris Evans will reprise his role as Steve Rogers, now living in the 1950s with Peggy Carter and their baby son. But Steve isn’t the only Avenger becoming a parent – Chris Hemsworth’s Thor also embraced fatherhood by the end of Thor: Love and Thunder.

The new teaser for Avengers: Doomsday shows Thor facing a personal challenge alongside the fate of the multiverse. He wants to ensure a safe future for his adopted daughter, Love, as she grows up. Achieving this, even for a powerful god like Thor, requires help from other deities. This also cleverly introduces a significant threat – Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Doom – who appears powerful enough to make even gods seek assistance. You can watch the teaser below.

Thor’s Story Is Pivotal to Avengers: Doomsday

Although Thor’s adventures after Avengers: Endgame have often seemed fun and humorous, like in Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, his story has actually been surprisingly complex and important for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He remains one of its most powerful warriors, now armed with both his hammer, Mjolnir, and the axe, Stormbreaker. He also has a daughter with cosmic powers and still controls thunder, along with all the natural abilities of an Asgardian. Doctor Doom might be aiming to control the remaining pieces of the multiverse, but getting past Thor won’t be easy, especially considering how much Thor regrets not killing Thanos when he had the opportunity. He’s learned from that mistake and won’t hesitate to strike decisively this time around.

Many Marvel fans are excited about the potential for Thor and Loki to reunite in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (or its sequel, Secret Wars). The two actors, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, originally started their Marvel journeys as a strong team, but that connection hasn’t been seen since Endgame. Loki was last shown taking on a huge responsibility – essentially saving the entire multiverse by maintaining dying realities from his throne by the Tree of Life, existing outside of normal time and space.

Being so noticeable while Doom is destroying the multiverse and trying to take over everything puts Loki in a dangerous spot. Thor and his friends might need to find Loki quickly, before Doom does. This could make their reunion with Loki emotional, and possibly brief.
