It’s hard to say if Marvel’s decision to delay the live-action show from 2025 to next year is good or bad. While fans will have to wait even longer for a show they’re excited about, especially with so many rumors floating around, the delay could mean an even stronger lineup of Marvel movies and shows in 2026, making the wait worthwhile.
Marvel’s *Wonder Man*, first announced as a live-action project in 2022, was originally planned to be released in December 2025. However, due to events at New York Comic Con, the release has been moved to January 2026. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel TV and animation, this change is to avoid the film being overshadowed by popular holiday movies like *Home Alone*, *Die Hard*, and *Elf*. Marvel previously made a similar decision with *WandaVision* in 2021, also moving its premiere to January.

Winderbaum’s enthusiasm for the project is a major reason why delaying the premiere for a few weeks is justified. He shared at NYCC that it’s one of his favorite projects at the studio, and unlike anything they’ve done before. The show is set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but focuses on Hollywood itself – specifically, the life of an actor navigating the challenges of balancing artistic passion with the need to earn a living. He believes this relatable theme will resonate with anyone who has experience in the arts or Hollywood.
The upcoming *Wonder Man* series promises a unique take on the superhero genre – something new and engaging, but still grounded in a believable world. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for his role in *Candyman*, will play Simon Williams, an actor who also comes from a family with a struggling tech business. Ben Kingsley will return as his character, Trevor Slattery, from previous Marvel films.
