I got a look at what’s next for Marvel Rivals! The team at NetEase Games just revealed details about Season 5, and they shared everything on Tuesday.
It’s now official: Gambit and Rogue will be playable characters in Marvel Rivals Season 5. The season’s story begins with the interruption of their wedding on Krakoa, and the new season will launch on November 14, 2025.
You can watch the trailer for the season below:
The trailer also showed Cyclops, also known as Scott Summers, who leads the X-Men. Although I don’t think Cyclops will be playable this season, it’s possible this is a hint at a character we might see in Season 6.
Gambit will be the first of the two new characters released, and he’s launching right at the beginning of the season. It’s great to see a strategist join the game – it’s been a while since Ultron was added back in Season 2. Considering there have been three new Duelists but only one Vanguard since then, Gambit is a very welcome addition.
The new video highlights Gambit’s strong healing skills. His ultimate ability significantly empowers teammates, increasing both their jump height and damage output.
The team behind Marvel Rivals released a video detailing the updates arriving with the new season. According to creative director Guangguang, cross-progression – a feature they’d previously announced – will be available when Season 5 begins.
This feature lets players use their unlocked and purchased skins and cosmetics on all their devices without any problems.
This season also introduces exciting new team-up options. For example, Black Widow can now team up with Phoenix, letting her change her rifle’s bullets to heal teammates – adding more ways for her to support the team.
Marvel Rivals is adding placement matches for competitive play. This should fix the frustrating issue of ranked resets, which previously caused major problems with matchmaking and led some players, including myself, to stop playing ranked. Hopefully, this new feature will make the ranked experience much better.
We’ll find out about Rogue’s role later in Season 5.5 – she’s expected to appear around the halfway mark. It’s possible she could fit into any of the current groups, but I’m really hoping she’s added to the Vanguard team.
This could be the best season in months

It’s fantastic to see both Gambit and Rogue added this season! I’m particularly excited about Gambit because they bring a fresh approach to support characters. While I like playing Strategists, the limited choices were becoming frustrating.
I’m really excited that cross-progression is coming this season! I love playing on my Xbox, and it’ll be great to have the choice to play on my PC too, without losing my progress or items.
We haven’t received the complete details for Marvel Rivals Season 5 yet, but what the developers have revealed looks really good. If they don’t make any strange or unnecessary changes that weaken characters, this season has the potential to be the best one in a long time.
