A puzzling question about Thanos from the movie Avengers: Endgame will finally be answered after seven years. Even though Marvel Studios has released many new films and shows since Thanos was defeated in the Infinity Saga, fans have continued to wonder about certain aspects of Josh Brolin’s character, and those questions have remained unanswered – until now.
A memorable scene in Avengers: Endgame showed Thanos peacefully farming and making soup before the Avengers showed up. Fans immediately became curious about what exactly he was cooking, and the question even became a popular meme thanks to a video by New Rockstars asking, “What Was He Cooking?” Now, Marvel plans to reveal the answer in 2026.

Marvel is releasing a new cookbook, Marvel Studios: The Official Cookbook: Recipes Inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, created by Jenn Fujikawa, S.T. Bende, and Evi Aki. It will be available in September 2026.

This cookbook is filled with recipes based on the food seen in the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including dishes from Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

A particularly interesting recipe is called “Thanos’ Soup.” This is likely the soup Thanos was making in the memorable farm scene from Avengers: Endgame. Now, in September, fans will get to discover exactly what he was cooking!

The ingredients for Thanos’ soup aren’t listed in the sneak peeks of the new Marvel Studios cookbook, so fans will have to buy it to learn the recipe.

People have wondered what ingredients were in the soup Thanos was making. It appeared to contain a spiky, vine-like plant grown on his new home planet, Titan II, along with some spices he added before cooking it. Sadly, he never got to enjoy it, as the Avengers interrupted him and defeated him shortly after.
Fans have been asking about the famous soup from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Marvel will finally reveal the recipe in their official cookbook, coming out on September 1, 2026.
Other Notable Marvel Recipes Featured in New Cookbook
This year, fans will finally learn the truth behind the long-awaited Thanos soup storyline, but that’s not all! A new cookbook will also answer other food-related questions from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though the MCU doesn’t usually focus on meals, certain food moments—like the Avengers enjoying shawarma and Ant-Man’s dropped taco—have become iconic.

The new cookbook from Marvel Studios will include recipes inspired by Iron Man, Black Panther, and Spider-Man. Preview pages show off some of the dishes fans will be able to cook at home.
This cookbook is a fun way to relive your favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe moments through food! It features beautiful concept art from the Infinity Saga – including character designs, landscapes, and action scenes – alongside recipes inspired by the movies. You can make dishes like the “I Am Iron Man” Cheeseburger (from Iron Man), Wanda’s Paprikash (from Captain America: Civil War), food inspired by Black Panther‘s Wakanda, and Peter’s Bodega Sandwich from Spider-Man: Homecoming.

One of the most memorable food moments in Marvel movies is when Tony Stark dramatically eats a cheeseburger during his first press conference after being held captive. This iconic scene – often remembered as the “I am Iron Man” cheeseburger – will be featured in an upcoming cookbook. While the movie version looked like a Burger King burger, the cookbook offers a more gourmet recipe for fans to recreate at home.

This cookbook features recipes based on food shown in Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, as well as dishes inspired by iconic scenes and quotes. One example is a playful take on Pepper Potts’ gift to Tony Stark in Iron Man. The original message, “Proof that Tony Stark Has a Heart,” is reimagined as “Proof that Tony Stark Has a Tart,” and accompanied by a recipe for chocolate and raspberry tarts designed to look like Iron Man’s arc reactor.
As a huge Marvel fan, I was really excited to see the official cookbook includes recipes for some of the iconic foods from the movies! I mean, who wouldn’t want to make the Avengers’ shawarma? And they didn’t stop there – there are tiny tacos inspired by Ant-Man, even Nick Fury’s strangely specific diagonally cut toast! Plus, they’ve created brand new recipes themed around each of the Infinity Stones, which is a really cool touch.
These new recipes add to the existing options already enjoyed by fans at locations like Avengers Campus in Disneyland and the Worlds of Marvel restaurant on Disney cruise ships.
