A new update has been released for Marvel’s Blade, the upcoming video game featuring the famous vampire hunter, which was first revealed in 2023. For the past fifteen years, Marvel has been incredibly successful with its movies, releasing over thirty films that have generally been well-received. It took some time for Marvel to also succeed in the world of video games, but they’ve made progress. After years of games tied to movie releases, with a few exceptional titles, Marvel started partnering with leading game developers to create original superhero games. Insomniac Games led the way with its popular Spider-Man games, and other developers have since created games based on characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Many fans have a wish list of heroes they’d love to see in games, but some seem impossible to make happen. Blade, the Marvel vampire hunter, was often considered one of those characters – something fans would dream about and hope a great developer would tackle. Surprisingly, it’s actually becoming a reality! In 2023, Arkane Studios, the team behind Dishonored, announced they were working on a Marvel’s Blade game. While still in the early stages of development, the news thrilled fans.
Marvel’s Blade Developer Asks for Patience from Fans
It’s been two years since we last heard much about the upcoming Marvel’s Blade movie. Updates have been sparse, and concerns grew this summer when Xbox closed several studios and cancelled games, including the popular Perfect Dark. Many worried Marvel’s Blade might be cancelled too, as licensed projects are expensive and involve sharing revenue with Disney. Fortunately, development is still underway at Arkane.
Dinga Bakaba, a studio and co-creative director at Arkane Lyon, has assured fans on Twitter that development of Marvel’s Blade is still ongoing. He asked for patience, acknowledging the game has high expectations to meet, and that the team is striving to deliver a quality product.

There’s no confirmed release date for the upcoming Marvel’s Blade game, but it likely won’t be available until at least 2027. The last update was a brief trailer in 2023, and developers said the game was still in early stages then, so there’s still a lot of work to be done. We might get another update this year, but it’s best not to expect one.
