Marvel’s Blade Movie Release Date Finally Gets an Update – Report

Marvel Studios has given fans an update on the long-awaited Blade movie, which has faced years of delays and numerous changes to its release date within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The latest news includes details about where the project stands, its creative vision, and when audiences can expect to see it in theaters.

When to expect Blade movie’s release date

According to Marvel insider Alex Perez, the Blade movie is still in development, but has been moved to a later phase of Marvel’s cinematic plans. Perez shared in a November 2025 interview with The Cosmic Circus that the delay is intentional, as Marvel wants to integrate it into the next big story arc. This decision follows changes to the release dates for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars movies, and a broader restructuring of Marvel’s schedule.

Variety reports that Disney is planning four new Marvel movies for 2028, currently without official titles, to be released in February, May, November, and December. Jeff Sneider suggests the third Black Panther movie is likely to debut in February, while insiders anticipate the X-Men reboot will come out in May. Marvel is now considering November or December 2028 as possible release dates for Blade, after moving it from its original November 2025 slot.

So, Disney’s pushing back some of its Marvel movie dates, and honestly, it’s probably a good thing. CEO Bob Iger recently admitted they got a little carried away with quantity over quality, and they’re now hitting the brakes to make sure future films are really strong. The plan is to kick off what’s essentially the next big era for Marvel – after everything with the Multiverse wraps up – with Blade in 2028, following Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. It sounds like they’re taking a breath and refocusing, which is what fans like me have been hoping for.

A director for the film hasn’t been chosen yet, but Perez has expressed interest in Fede Álvarez or Dan Trachtenberg taking the helm. Mahershala Ali is still set to star, and if production moves forward, the movie could be released in November or December 2028.
