Marvel’s Captain America & X-23 Actors Are Teaming up for New Action Thriller

I’m so excited! I just heard that Chris Evans (Captain America!) and Dafne Keen (X-23!) are going to be in a new action thriller together! It’s their first time working together, and from what I’ve heard, it’s going to be packed with non-stop, intense action. No release date yet, but I’m already counting down the days!

Barracuda action movie to star Anthony Mackie and Dafne Keen

Anthony Mackie, known for his role as Captain America/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Dafne Keen will star in a new action-thriller called Barracuda. The film will be directed by Neil Burger, who has previously directed movies like Limitless and Divergent. The screenplay is a collaboration between Adam Mason and Simon Boyes. Mackie’s other notable roles include appearances in 8 Mile, The Hurt Locker, Altered Carbon, and Twisted Metal.

Dafne Keen gained recognition for playing Laura/X-23 in the film Logan, and she recently reprised the role in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). She’s also appeared in His Dark Materials, The Acolyte, and Whistle. The project also stars Steven Bauer, famous for his roles in Breaking Bad, Scarface, and Ray Donovan, and Anthony Del Negro, who has been in shows like Welcome to Chippendales and Running Point with Kate Hudson.

The movie follows Karl, a man with a troubled history and a past as a smuggler, as he attempts to rescue a kidnapped teenager named Jodie from a Mexican nightclub. This rescue attempt unleashes a violent journey filled with danger as they race 100 miles toward the U.S. border.

The escape quickly becomes a dangerous, fast-paced chase when Karl kills the brother of a powerful club owner and makes off with his beloved 1973 Plymouth Barracuda. Pursued by determined criminals, Karl and Jodie speed across the desert, with no chance to stop.

Filming is set to start this week in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Highland Film Group will distribute the movie internationally and in the US, with UTA Independent Film Group assisting with domestic distribution.

Arianne Fraser, Delphine Perrier, and Henry Winterstern from Highland are producing the film, alongside Jack and Aaron Rapke of Image Movers, Kia Jam of K. Jam Media, Todd Lundbohm of 828 Productions, Peter Jákl of R.U. Robot Studios, and Joe Di Maio. The film’s executive producers include Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis, Isaac Lilly from Image Movers, and Mark and Christine Holder, Bryan Coyne, Kyle Fox, and Walter Josen.
