Marvel’s First Family is In Grave Danger in Planet of the Apes vs. Fantastic Four First Look (Exclusive)

Marvel frequently combines its universe with other popular franchises – not just DC Comics. They’ve done this before with exciting team-ups like Godzilla vs Avengers and Aliens vs Avengers, and they’re planning another crossover in 2026. This new four-issue series is a nostalgic throwback, pairing well-known Marvel heroes with a classic pop culture brand in a surprisingly fitting way.

Okay, fellow movie and comic fans, get this – in February, we’re getting a seriously cool crossover: Planet of the Apes vs. Fantastic Four! It’s being written by Josh Trujillo, who’s done work on What If…? Galactus, and the art is by Andrea Di Vito, known for Emma Frost: The White Queen. Basically, the Fantastic Four are getting thrown into the world of the original Planet of the Apes movie from 1968. It’s going to be a wild ride with some familiar ape faces, and I’ve got a sneak peek you won’t want to miss!

The Fantastic Four Are In Serious Danger

The images reveal the Fantastic Four are in a dangerous predicament, seemingly captured and put on trial on an alien world. If convicted, they face a deadly outcome. The team appears to have lost their powers, particularly Ben Grimm, who doesn’t seem to have his usual rocky form.

Trujillo shared with Marvel how much they loved watching Planet of the Apes as a kid, making writing for these famous characters a dream come true. They’re especially excited about the Fantastic Four interacting with characters like Cornelius, Zira, and Dr. Zaius, calling it a really fun and long-awaited crossover. They hope readers enjoy this epic story they’re thrilled to be telling.

Planet of the Apes Has a Long History With Marvel

What makes this crossover so interesting is that Marvel and Planet of the Apes have a history together in the world of comics. Marvel originally published Planet of the Apes comics from 1974 to 1977, and they got the rights again in 2022. Since then, they’ve released two short comic series based on the franchise, including one that coincided with the release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes in 2024. This is the very first time Marvel’s characters are teaming up with the world of Planet of the Apes in a crossover event.

Okay, so Marvel’s doing this crazy team-up comic – Planet of the Apes meets the Fantastic Four! Apparently, Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben get stuck on the Planet of the Apes and actually hang out with Cornelius, Zira, Ursus, and Dr. Zaius – can you believe it?! But that’s not all, some classic Marvel villains are also heading to Ape City, which means things are about to get seriously chaotic. It sounds like an epic showdown fans are going to love!
