There’s a recent rumor that America Chavez, the superhero played by Xochitl Gomez, may not appear in the upcoming Marvel movies Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed this information. America Chavez first appeared in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

America Chavez rumored to sit out of Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars

According to well-known Marvel insider My Time To Shine Hello (MTTSH), it seems Xochitl Gomez’s character, America Chavez, won’t be appearing in the upcoming Avengers movies, Doomsday and Secret Wars.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), MTTSH expressed disbelief that America Chavez, a character whose superpower is traveling across the multiverse, won’t appear in the upcoming ‘Doomsday’ event or have a significant part in ‘Secret Wars’. They called the decision ‘INSANE’.

A source recently shared that, according to leaked artwork, they doubt America Chavez will appear in the Secret Wars movie.

Selena Gomez wasn’t on the initial cast list for the movie Doomsday when it was announced in March 2025. When ET Online asked her about the film in August 2025, she said she was excited to see what the future holds for America Chavez in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans are surprised by America Chavez’s absence from Doomsday

Once MTTSH revealed the news on social media, a lot of fans discussed whether America Chavez would be back for future Avengers films.

A fan expressed confusion about a character’s absence, stating it doesn’t seem logical. They compared the situation to Captain Marvel’s unconfirmed appearance in upcoming films like ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars,’ predicting the character will likely appear, just like America Chavez.

One viewer commented, frustrated that a character with potential from another universe wasn’t being utilized, asking, “What was the point of introducing her if they weren’t going to do anything with her? It just doesn’t make sense.”

One commenter wondered if the character’s ability involves time travel, suggesting the filmmakers messed up if she wasn’t shown traveling through time, even briefly.
