As a devoted cinephile with a particular soft spot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I’ve been eagerly anticipating new additions to this expansive and interconnected universe. It’s been quite some time since we’ve had a fresh installment, with X-Men ’97 providing a brief reprieve earlier this year. However, the return of our beloved superheroes is finally upon us in the form of Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman!
More recently, the arrival of X-Men ’97 filled a void, but it’s been some time since a fresh addition has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
At the beginning of the year, Disney Plus introduced a new series called Echo. Around Christmas time, the second season of What If…? also premiered. However, the most recent Marvel blockbuster movie to hit theaters was The Marvels, which came out in November.
Lastly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made its return to theaters, as Deadpool and Wolverine, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman respectively, have exploded onto screens globally.
As a long-time fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I’m absolutely thrilled to share my perspective on the current phase of the saga, which is often referred to as the “Multiverse Saga.” Having followed the MCU since its inception, I can confidently say that we’re now smack dab in the middle of its fifth phase.
