As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited to hear they’ve found a composer for their new Disney+ series, VisionQuest! It’s going to be the third part of a trilogy that started with the amazing WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. Agatha All Along really showed the mess left behind in Westview after Wanda freed everyone and left Agatha with no memory. We saw what happened with Wanda in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but this is getting back to the Disney+ series format. VisionQuest is finally going to tell us what happened to Vision after he flew off at the end of WandaVision, and it’s also going to follow up on some of the other AI characters we’ve seen in the Marvel movies, which I’m especially looking forward to!
Marvel has brought on Mick Giacchino to compose the music for the upcoming film VisionQuest. Mick is the son of acclaimed composer Michael Giacchino, who has a strong background in superhero movies. Michael won an Oscar for his work on Up and received an Oscar nomination for Ratatouille. He’s also earned Grammy nominations for scoring The Incredibles and The Batman. Beyond those, he’s composed the scores for several Marvel films, including Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. He even directed an episode of Werewolf by Night.
What Has Mick Giacchino Done In The Past?

It’s great to look back at Michael Giacchino’s work, but his son actually landed the job on VisionQuest. Fortunately, Mick Giacchino is also building a successful career. He collaborated with his father on The Batman, providing extra music, and has scored films like The Skeleton Key. He’s also contributed to The Muppets Mayhem and Zootopia+, but his biggest achievement so far is winning a Primetime Emmy for his work on HBO and DC’s The Penguin.
The new series, VisionQuest, picks up Vision’s story after the events of WandaVision and introduces several artificial intelligence characters from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. James Spader reprises his role as Ultron, who last appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Though seemingly defeated by Vision in that film, the fate of the AI behind Ultron remains a mystery. Emily Hampshire joins the cast as EDITH (the AI from Spider-Man: Far From Home), alongside FRIDAY (Iron Man’s AI, which succeeded JARVIS), and James D’Arcy returns as JARVIS.
The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline involving artificial intelligence opens up possibilities for adapting classic comic book arcs, such as the ‘Robot Revolution’ from Iron Man 2020. The film could also explore what happens to the Scarlet Witch and her son, Wiccan, especially since her other child, Speed, is confirmed to appear. Given the story’s focus on computers and AI, the musical score will be particularly important, and composer Michael Giacchino would be an excellent choice to create it.
