Insomniac Games recently revealed more details about Marvel’s Wolverine, showing the popular hero trying to rescue captured mutants from a group called the Reavers. You can watch the reveal trailer below, and pre-orders will be available after the State of Play event.
The game doesn’t shy away from violence, featuring intense combat and graphic depictions of enemies being defeated – especially noticeable when the player character, Logan, is injured. Players can expect skillful parrying, impressive finishing moves, and a powerful Berserker Rage. The character Jean Grey also participates, using her telepathy to help in battle.
The game looks stunning, with incredibly detailed textures, realistic reflections, and other visual effects. Soon after, the Reavers and mutants clash in intense fights, including battles on moving vehicles and a brutal showdown with Logan. These scenes also showcase Logan’s impressive ability to concentrate and rapidly heal from severe injuries.
Insomniac’s new Wolverine game, similar to their Spider-Man titles, tells an original story rooted in the comics. It centers around James “Logan” Howlett as he tries to recover his lost memories, which could reveal the origins of his adamantium skeleton and retractable claws.
I’m so hyped for Marvel’s Wolverine! From what I’ve seen, it’s going to take Logan on a wild ride, all over the world – from Canada and Tokyo to a place called Madripoor. He’ll be facing off against some seriously tough enemies like the Reavers, Omega Red, and Sabertooth, and it looks like Mystique is up to something shady too. It’s coming out on September 15th, but unfortunately it’s a PlayStation 5 exclusive – Sony’s decided to keep its story-driven games off of PC for now.
