Fans might get a new look at Marvel’s Wolverine very soon. Insomniac Games previously announced they wouldn’t share any updates on the game until Spring 2026, and while that timeframe has arrived, no new footage has been released – disappointing many players. However, a recent rumor suggests a gameplay showcase could happen within the next week. This would be the first substantial update on Insomniac’s highly anticipated game in quite some time.
A reliable PlayStation source suggests a new State of Play presentation could happen next week, potentially on April 16th. While PlayStation hasn’t officially confirmed this, the rumor seems likely because Insomniac Games is expected to soon show gameplay footage of Marvel’s Wolverine.
Considering the next PlayStation State of Play is rumored to be happening soon, it’s likely it will focus exclusively on Marvel’s Wolverine. PlayStation has done this before – they had a similar presentation in April dedicated solely to Borderlands 4. Focusing on just Wolverine now would also allow them to showcase other upcoming PS5 games later in May or June, potentially those releasing in 2026 or beyond.
What Would We See in This Potential Wolverine Event?
Now, Insomniac Games just needs to show fans how Wolverine will actually play. The last trailer did a good job of telling the story, but didn’t show much actual gameplay. Showing more of the gameplay experience will be key to getting fans excited and convincing them to buy the game on PS5.
A dedicated State of Play event for Wolverine would be a great time for PlayStation to finally start taking pre-orders for the game. It’s a little unusual that pre-orders aren’t open yet, considering the September 15th release date. PlayStation is likely planning a big launch, potentially including special versions of the PS5 console and controllers. It would make sense to reveal these special editions during a State of Play and build even more excitement for the game.
