Insomniac Games has announced that Marvel’s Wolverine, the highly anticipated action game for PS5, will be released in Fall 2026. Along with the release date, the developer shared the first gameplay trailer after initially revealing the game in 2025. Insomniac had previously promised to share more details this year, and now they’ve delivered, letting fans know exactly when they can start playing as Wolverine.
PlayStation announced today that Marvel’s Wolverine will be released on September 15th as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. The announcement didn’t include any new gameplay footage or details, but PlayStation is encouraging fans to add the game to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store. While Insomniac hasn’t shared any updates recently, we can expect to see more information about the game in the coming weeks or months.
This Wolverine Launch Date Was Expected
Most people expected the release date for Marvel’s Wolverine to be around this time. Earlier reports suggested PlayStation wanted to avoid releasing Wolverine too close to Grand Theft Auto VI. Since GTA VI is coming out in November, it seemed likely Wolverine would be released in September or October.
Rumors about a September 2026 release for Marvel’s Wolverine gained traction in early February after information leaked from PlayStation suggested a launch in the third quarter of that year (July-September). It now appears these leaks were correct.
PlayStation is building a strong lineup of exclusive games for 2026. Before the highly anticipated Wolverine arrives in September, players can look forward to Housemarque’s new shooter, Saros, in April, and Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls in August. Another new title, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, is also planned for release sometime in 2026, though a specific date hasn’t been announced yet.
