Marvel’s Wolverine Release Window Detailed by PlayStation Insider

A trusted source familiar with PlayStation’s plans has given us a better idea of when we can expect Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games. After a long wait, the game was shown off again this year with a trailer and a general release timeframe of Fall 2026. While fans were excited by the new look, they naturally wanted to know exactly when in Fall 2026 it would be available. We still don’t have a firm release date, but a well-known reporter has provided a more specific estimate.

During an appearance on the Button Mash podcast, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier predicted that Marvel’s Wolverine will likely be released in either September or October. He believes a November launch is unlikely because Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming out that month. While GTA 6 isn’t exclusive to PlayStation, Schreier expects most copies will be sold on PS5. As a result, PlayStation is planning to release Marvel’s Wolverine well after GTA 6 to avoid competing with its sales.

According to Schreier, Wolverine is likely to be released in September or October. He believes Sony is structuring its entire release schedule around GTA 6 and will avoid launching any major games close to its release.

PlayStation’s potential plan for Wolverine – avoiding a direct clash with a major release – is likely being used by many other game publishers this year. Even huge franchises like Call of Duty will probably delay their launch by a few weeks to avoid being overshadowed by Grand Theft Auto 6. With GTA 6 potentially being the most anticipated game ever, any game released around the same time will likely see a financial impact.

Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 later in 2024. While there’s no official announcement yet, a version for PC is probable, following PlayStation’s pattern of releasing Marvel’s Spider-Man games on PC as well.
