Marvel’s Wolverine Reveal Reportedly Coming Very Soon, 4 Years After Announcement

As a die-hard Marvel enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation with every passing moment. You might recall the grand PlayStation Showcase of 2021, where they unveiled games destined for release years into the future. Sure, Spider-Man 2 had fans eagerly awaiting its arrival, but it was the unexpected reveal of Marvel’s Wolverine by Insomniac Games that truly sent shockwaves through the fan community. It’s been a decade since we last saw a standalone Wolverine game, and I can hardly contain my excitement for more insights into this anticipated title.

However, ever since that initial announcement, Insomniac Games has kept an admirable veil of secrecy around the game. Apart from a fleeting CG trailer that barely revealed anything substantial, we’ve yet to see any official updates. But I, along with countless other fans, am eagerly waiting for the day when we can finally feast our eyes on the proper trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine.

As a devoted fan, I must share some unfortunate news about Insomniac Games that surfaced in December 2023. Unfortunately, playable builds of Marvel’s Wolverine, along with game footage and story outlines, were leaked online. Although it provided a sneak peek into the game’s development, it was evidently an unpolished version of what we can anticipate.

Since then, Insomniac has been working diligently on the project, but there have been some internal changes with key team members departing from Marvel’s Wolverine. Whether these shake-ups indicate any underlying issues or if everything continues to run smoothly remains unclear. However, it seems like we’ll soon discover more about the game’s development journey.

Marvel’s Wolverine Trailer Rumored for Later This Month

According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, it’s rumored that the new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine has been finished and awaiting release. It’s speculated that PlayStation might unveil this trailer during their end-of-September State of Play event, which would mark the first look at Wolverine about four years after its initial reveal. However, if it doesn’t debut there, there’s also a possibility that PlayStation could showcase Marvel’s Wolverine at The Game Awards in December instead. Keep in mind that these details should be treated with a bit of skepticism, but Henderson is often a reliable source.

This could imply that Marvel’s Wolverine might be nearing its release, given that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 began revealing trailers and gameplay trailers five months prior to its launch after a long period of silence. It appears that PlayStation tends to delay showing significant parts of their games until they are near release, even if they have been announced for years. Similarly, Insomniac is cautious about revealing too much in marketing, so a strategy for limiting exposure could be by only promoting the game closer to its launch.

It appears that Marvel’s Wolverine might be set for a release in the spring of 2026. Fingers crossed that Insomniac will soon provide us with some certainty by revealing the official date along with their upcoming trailer for this highly anticipated PS5 exclusive. Until then, we can only guess and wait eagerly for further developments.
